In an average year, 257 people die by guns in Montana. With a rate of 22.3 deaths per 100,000 people, the "Treasure State" has the 9th-highest rate of firearm deaths in the US; 83% are by gun suicide.

Montana is ranked 40th in terms of mental health care for her residents and is rated "F" in terms of gun control regulations.

Nationally, every eleven minutes someone is killed with a firearm in Amerikkka, either by an assailant, self-inflicted wound, or accident. That translates to 46,686 people in an average year, a rate of 13.8 deaths per 100,000 people.

By contrast in Canada, a country of 41,417,056 people, a grand total of 221 victims were killed with a firearm in 2025.
