... Danbury police "became aware of the activity after it occurred," Erin Henry, a city spokesperson, said in an email. She said police were not aware of the group while they were outside the station and had no interaction with them. The video, shared on Reddit, is taken from a moving vehicle that is driving past the demonstrators. A group of about a dozen people in masks can be seen carrying a sign that says "Keep New England White." They also were giving the "Sieg Heil" salute. The Nazi Party in Germany used the chant alongside the outstretched-arm salute to demand obedience and demonstrate loyalty to Adolf Hitler. Danbury Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour said the department was aware of the post and "sadly we can confirm its authenticity." "We unfortunately cannot control those who utilize public sidewalks or have the outside of our building in the background," Ridenhour said in a statement on Monday. "However, these people were not members of the Danbury Police Department." "Rhetoric such as this should have no place in our society and certainly is not part of our department's mission and values. We are here to protect and serve everyone within our jurisdiction," the police chief added. "We do not support or condone the actions of this group or of any individuals, groups, or organizations that promote hate or exclusion in this or any community." It was not clear how long the demonstrators were outside the police station. ...

@#2 ... Police and Nazis are close to the same ...
Possibly.
But, Danbury, CT is a city a bit north of me.
A majorly diverse city that seems to pride itself upon its diversity.
Back in the day, I used to go to the Danbury restaurants for the wide range of food that was offered. From Vietnamese Beef Ball soup to Brazilian BBQ.
The police in Danbury have not seemed to be anywhere like your comment proposes. Indeed, quite the opposite.
More of "Serve and Protect" than the GOP-favored "Control and Arrest."

And, of course, the John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant.

John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant en.wikipedia.org
... The John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant is a sewage treatment plant in Danbury, Connecticut, named after the English-American comedian and political satirist John Oliver. The plant was completely renovated in response to a 2008 order from state and federal agencies to address the inability of the existing sewage system to curtail phosphorus concentrations in wastewater, as well as other environmental issues. After Oliver made fun of Danbury on his show, Last Week Tonight, Danbury mayor Mark Boughton responded by offering to rename their $100-million sewage plant for Oliver. Boughton later told reporters that it was a joke, but after Oliver offered $55,000 to local charities in exchange for the plant's renaming, the city agreed to officially rename the site in his honor. Construction began in 2019, and was finished in October 2020, with Oliver personally attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony. ...
