My postdoc institution had a large Chinese student and, especially, postdoc presence. There were even a few Chinese PIs who basically ran labs almost entirely staffed with Chinese students and postdocs. Even many of the technician and staff scientist jobs were filled by Chinese women because their husbands were postdocs and they got a tech job via PI connections.

If you're looking for hearing protection, in my opinion you'll get much better performance out of a high-quality set of reactive earmuffs.

I've bought a set of these for myself, my wife and my son. Not for shooting, but for when we go to shows or something with loud noises (especially for my son) because ambient noise is minimally reduced but loud, sudden noises are suppressed very well. I think the model I bought runs about $75-80 on Amazon.

So when does he face consequences for raining toxic debris down constantly? At the very least, cut off his government cash flow until it's figured out.

I personally would prefer to know when deadly weapons are being fired in my neighborhood or my vicinity.
