Provisions aimed at limiting American investments in certain Chinese industries were scrapped from a temporary spending bill negotiated to avert a government shutdown.
The original bill, which was renegotiated after Donald Trump and Elon Musk came out against it, would have prohibited or required notification of overseas transactions involving China in sectors like semiconductors, quantum technology and artificial intelligence.
While the current wave of discriminatory policies will do obvious harm to the transgender community, they're also meant to distract from the myriad ways we're all getting fleeced. read more
The House shot down a new funding bill endorsed by President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday, marking the latest failed spending bill proposal this week as a potential government shutdown looms.
There's one plan:
Elon Musk tweets out the lie that Social Security is where all the money is. They show a bar chart where Social Security is presented as a huge expense, as if it's the government's money. read more
President-elect Trump called a revised stopgap spending plan that emerged Thursday a "very good Deal for the American People" and urged lawmakers to support it.
"Musk helped kill a congressional spending bill. But much of what he spread was misinformation
Musk's objections to the 1,547-page omnibus bill included misinformation about congressional salaries, federal funding and public health preparedness, among other topics."
It's not a lie when a billionaire does it, it's a, "misrepresentation".
Trumpers swallow those whole.
"Elon Tries to Kill "President Musk" Allegations After Total Disaster
Musk's genius spending bill idea crashed and burned. Now he's hoping he won't be blamed, including by Trump.
Whatever the state of Musk and Trump's relationship after the world's wealthiest man flexed his political muscles this week, the notion that Musk is delivering marching orders seems to have struck a nerve with team Trump.
On Thursday, a Trump spokesperson insisted that the president-elect, and no one else, was in charge, saying, "President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party. Full stop."
If you have to say that, you must really be doing a lot of things wrong.
"Government shutdown: House passes stopgap funding bill, sends it to Senate for vote
Like Thursday's failed vote, Friday's passage " without Trump's debt limit hike " served as a reminder to the incoming president of just how difficult it is to control the notoriously fractious House Republican caucus."
Lewzer loses again... but he'll treat the House like they owe him one.

Pretty cool stuff. I got to the Silicon Valley in the early 80's and saw lots of new tech, but this is impressive.
"At the White House, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre lashed out at Republicans who had agreed to a bipartisan deal and then abandoned it.
"This is a mess that Speaker [Mike] Johnson created, that is his mess to fix," she told reporters at the daily briefing, adding that there was "still time" for Republicans to "do the right thing."
That's SO otherworldly.... Mikey folded to Trump's pressure to kill the bipartisan bill, then Trump's mouthpiece blames Mikey?
Oh, wait... his Base is stupid enough to believe anything he says, so.
"Musk's meddling in debt ceiling deal signals a turn toward oligarchy
Collectively, their actions mark a troubling turn away from representative democracy and toward oligarchical rule, as Musk's wealth and influence overpower the legislative priorities of lawmakers elected by the American people."
