Because not all tariffs are bad. Some narrowly focused on a few strategic industries are effective and not a net negative. But Trump wants tariffs across the board. If trumps tariff plan was enacted, economists believe Trump's tariff plan could cost middle-class households at least $1700 per year.
Inflation is up but as long as wages are up more than inflation it is a net positive for consumers.
July 2024: Inflation was 2.9% while wages grew by 4.7%.
June 2023"June 2024: Wages grew 3.9%, which was faster than inflation.
April 2023"April 2024: Wages rose 3.9% while inflation increased 3.4%.
Since February 2020: Average hourly earnings rose 22.3% while the Consumer Price Index climbed 20.8%
Trump will call them and tell them to forget about it and to postpone it. Sorry if more have to die in the meantime but it just would not be good for his campaign to stay out of prison.
