A mail carrier was doing her job last Tuesday in a familiar Detroit neighborhood, but what she didn't know was that thieves had their eyes on her. At 2:21 p.m. that afternoon, a masked suspect held the mail carrier at gunpoint. "Don't move! The key!" the suspect can be heard saying in the security footage.

Lyrics excerpt...
...
You have been my lighthouse
In every storm
You have given shelter
You have kept me safe and warm
And in my darkest nights
You have shone your brightest lights
You are my saving grace
Darling, I love you
...
You have been the anchor
And I the chain
Straining as we hold ourselves
Together in the rain

Wow, they don't write lyrics like that anymore.
Yup, because of fmr Pres trump, the immigration reform bill, written by the GOP was killed.
So now we have to deal with this...
Hundreds of migrants leave southern Mexico on foot in a new caravan headed for the U.S. border
www.nbcnews.com
... Hundreds of migrants from around a dozen countries left from Mexico's southern border on foot Sunday, as they attempt to make it to the U.S. border.
Some of the members of the group said they hoped to make it to the U.S. border before elections are held in November, because they fear that if Donald Trump wins, he will follow through on a promise to close the border to asylum-seekers. ...
"Asylum seekers" yeah, that's what fmr Pres Trump killed.
The bill he torpedoed would place restrictions upon asylum seekers. GOP-authored restrictions.
But fmr Pres trump wanted to keep immigration as a talking point in his quest to further divide the Country. So he caused the bill to be canceled.

OK, and a major oops on my part...
"Fire on High" was used as the opening theme for the CBS Sports Spectacular TV show in the mid-1970s.[2]
en.wikipedia.org
So, I had attributed it to the incorrect weekend TV sports show.
Once again, many thanks for pointing out my error.
If you remember ABC's weekend sports show, Wide World of Sports, you might recognize this theme song.
(it takes a while to get started to the point you might recognize the theme song, give it a minute and a half...)

@#8 ... Answering a poll is made super easy
Voting however has been made increasingly difficult for some ...
Yup.
And that is the hurdle that pollsters are facing of late.
More specifically, those who tell the pollster one answer more as a "protest vote" than how they may be voting in November.
And that is a reason (one of many) that this far out from the election I look more to the trends in polling, and not the absolute numbers.
For example, a couple weeks ago, fmr Pres Trump was up in the general election polls by 3.1%. Now he seems to be up by only 2.0%.
( www.realclearpolling.com ) Probably not a trend that the Trump cult would want to see.
And VP Harris has not yet really started her campaign.
I'll proffer that is not a desired trend for the Trump campaign.
Harris, Rallying Thousands in Georgia, Challenges Trump to Say It to My Face'
www.nytimes.com
... Vice President Kamala Harris challenged former President Donald J. Trump to commit to a presidential debate on Tuesday night during a raucous rally in Atlanta that featured some 10,000 attendees, celebrity appearances and another rare feature of Democrats' rallies lately: fun.
In a roughly 21-minute speech, Ms. Harris, now just nine days into her position atop the Democratic ticket, contrasted her policy goals with Republicans' agenda. But the high point of her remarks came toward the end, when she mentioned the former president's reluctance to commit to a matchup he had initially agreed to on Sept. 10, when President Biden was still his opponent.
"Well Donald, I do hope you'll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage," she said, as the cheers grew louder. She appeared to savor the delivery of the next line, drawing it out for maximum effect: "Because as the saying goes, If you've got something to say, say it to my face.'"
The crowd exploded. ...

Senior status
en.wikipedia.org
... Senior status is a form of semi-retirement for United States federal judges. To qualify, a judge in the federal court system must be at least 65 years old, and have served at least 10 years, and the sum of the judge's age and years of service as a federal judge must be at least 80 years.[1]
As long as senior judges carry at least a 25 percent caseload or meet other criteria for activity, they remain entitled to maintain a staffed office and chambers, including a secretary and their normal complement of law clerks, and they continue to receive annual cost-of-living increases.[1] The president may appoint new full-time judges to fill the vacancies in full-time judgeships caused by senior status.[1]
Some U.S. states have similar systems for senior judges. State courts with a similar system include Iowa (for judges on the Iowa Court of Appeals), Pennsylvania, and Virginia (for justices of the Virginia Supreme Court).[2][3][4]

OK, initially, I was going to counter the "played into his hand" part of your comment.
Then I continued to read and saw, "His sheep will applaud."
And I thought that was a more apropos description.
So I punted my prior comment.
