The X account for the White Dudes for Harris campaign group was suspended on Monday, apparently just minutes after its debut fundraising event raised $4 million for Vice President Kamala Harris' 2024 presidential bid.

"Update: As of Tuesday morning, the account has been reinstated and the user behind @whitedudesforharris " a separate account " clarified online that he created the other account to prevent bad actors from taking it. The dual accounts are the likely culprit for why @whitedudes4harris was suspended in the first place, but X has still not responded to TheWrap's request for comment."

Oh man I thought his was going to be an all out evidence of Musk being a right wind totalitarian, as Maduro claims.

Looks like Rein fell for it hook line and sinker, not the first time. You'd think he'd learn..

I keep telling you wait 24hrs before posting, but you don't listen.

If you remember ABC's weekend sports show, Wide World of Sports, you might recognize this theme song.

(it takes a while to get started to the point you might recognize the theme song, give it a minute and a half...)

Electric Light Orchestra - Fire On High (1975)

LAMP

The theme music for ABC's Wide World of Sports was composed in the early 60's ... if that's what you were talking about. Classic and memorable. No doubt royalties bought the composer a house.

Until Google came along, I always wondered how the dude faired who fell off the end of the ski jump ... a mild concussion and a broken ankle was the worst of it. I was glad to read that.

@#10 ... The theme music for ABC's Wide World of Sports was composed in the early 60's ...

OK, your comment made me look up the song I cited by ELO and the Wide World of Sports.

I found that WWoS started in 1961.

en.wikipedia.org

... ABC's Wide World of Sports is an American sports anthology television program that aired on ABC from April 29, 1961, to 1997, primarily on Saturday afternoons. ...

So that pre-dates to ELO release of the tune.

OK, I just dug into my vinyl archive and pulled out the ELO album, Face The Music.

Looking at the liner notes, the first thing I notice is that the song Fire On High, is not listed on the record sleeve.

That is odd. Quite odd, as a matter of fact. There are eight songs on the album, but only seven are listed on the liner notes.

Aside from being listed on the back of the album cover in the list of songs on the album, there is no mention of the song Fire On High anywhere else in the materials of the album.

That is so odd. Weird odd.

So, yeah, I'll say you are correct in your comment.

It is an older song that ELO, I'll be nice, borrowed for their album.

Many thanks for that correction, most appreciated.

OK, and a major oops on my part...

"Fire on High" was used as the opening theme for the CBS Sports Spectacular TV show in the mid-1970s.[2]
en.wikipedia.org

So, I had attributed it to the incorrect weekend TV sports show.

Once again, many thanks for pointing out my error.

It is absolutely gobsmackingly amazing the lengths that the filthy rich will go to,
to avoid paying their fair share of taxes. Support a political candidate to the tune
of 10 million a month, no problem.

Pay your taxes, "You've got to be fecking kidding me!!"

Please don't call it "x".

It's Xitter. "Xi" is pronounced like "shi".

'"Xi" is pronounced like "shi"'

Not exactly the same, but close. It's nothing like the french zh/z sound some journalists butcher it with.

This is one of the rare cases where the Wade-Giles transliteration ("hsi") was actually better.

Tesla actually working correctly is front page news, but it's only here because it's election related.

"The account's suspension is "not that surprising," writes Techdirt Editor in Chief Mike Masnick (who, it should be noted, is intensely critical of X policies and Musk himself on many issues). "Shouldn't an account suddenly amassing a ton of followers with no clear official connection to the campaign and pushing people to donate maybe ring some internal alarm bells on any trust and safety team? It wouldn't be a surprise if it tripped some guardwires and was locked and/or suspended briefly while the account was reviewed. That's how this stuff works."
