I qualified for Naval AT on my ASVAB but by the time I had papers in front of me to sign the seats were full and was offered another skill. I didn't enlist and I think it was for the best. My dad was Navy (early Vietnam era), and he constantly warned me to steer away from AT.

Has anyone looked at the demand for skilled trades people lately? These folks (well seasoned) can make $150k/year. Especially in the heavy industrial sector with skills like rare earth alloy welding. She's absolutely correct in her concerns. The people who code are about to be homeless. And the arts are not immune either.

Some of these skills take years to master. like 4-6 years.
