The video shows a woman trying to get to her apartment when she is confronted by a line of enforcement officers. The woman appears to exchange words with the officers. Then one of the officers fires and hits her with something, perhaps a rubber bullet. The woman who captured it on video goes to help her and the wounded woman can be heard crying and trembling. In this letter written to DNI Tulsi Gabbard, senior Democratic lawmakers accused her of violating the law with personnel moves that threaten the independent oversight of the 18 intelligence agencies she oversees. In this letter, they provide new details of a standoff between Gabbard and her congressionally mandated inspector general. At stake is the fate of an office established by Congress in 2010 to provide independent oversight over what are now 18 US civilian and military intelligence agencies. Dotard Trumpf has frequently shown hostility toward inspectors general " he fired one of Johnson's predecessors during his first term in 2019 " and in Jan 2025 he fired most inspectors general at federal Cabinet agencies.

PRRI: Most Americans (76%) oppose spending $45 million to hold a large parade of soldiers, weapons, and combat vehicles on the streets of Washington, D.C., in celebration of the Army's 250th birthday and President Trump's birthday, including 48% who strongly oppose, compared with only 21% who are in favor. Solid majorities of Democrats (93%) and independents (80%) oppose the military parade, as well as a slim majority of Republicans (52%).

"The soldiers you saw in the photo were resting as they were not currently on mission and due to the fluid security situation, it was deemed too dangerous for them to travel to better accommodations," a Defense Department spokesperson told Snopes.

During a speech at Fort Bragg, N.C., Donald Trump said that he would restore the names of all US Army bases that were named for treasonous Confederate generals but were ordered changed by Congress in the waning days of his first term. His move skirts the law mandating the removal of Confederate symbols from the military through the same maneuver used to restore the name of Fort Bragg, which was briefly renamed Fort Liberty. The US Army stated it would "take immediate action" to restore the old names, but the base names would instead honor other American soldiers with similar names and initials. For example, Fort Eisenhower in Georgia, honoring the late president, would revert to the name Fort Gordon, the Confederate slave owner and suspected KKK member. This time around, however, the US Army said the base would instead honor MSG Gary Gordon, who fought in the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia for which he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. read more

Trump is pulling a military dragnet all across Los Angeles. Well beyond his stated intent to just go after violent and serious criminals, his agents are arresting dishwashers, gardeners, day laborers and seamstresses." -- California Gov. Gavin Newsom
