David Leonhardt: Was the pandemic started by a lab leak or by natural transmission? We look at the evidence.

Both possibilities are plausible.

The fascist Chinese dictatorship's coverup of the origin has succeeded. It's unlikely that we will ever know which one really happened.

It's just that; the governments are claiming that the pandemic "must have come" from a spontaneously infected bat, being sold for food in the meat market, with no proof whatsoever and no other infected bats to show as example,

VS the FACT that a hazardous biological laboratory, walking distance from that market AND the city's central rail station, and which was experimenting with the very same types of virus including ones artificially modified to have the same unique markers as COVID has, had a literal explosion shortly before the outbreak. And the government and scientists IMMEDIATELY started barking like angry dogs about how "ridiculous" it was that COVID could have come from this lab because reasons.

So think what the government wants you to think, think what you want to think, or don't think at all. That's your right. But don't tell me that a sketchy and responsibility-diverting story is a better explanation than the obvious, or that I ought to choose an opinion based on loyalty or whatever.

#2 it's clear you choose based on your inherent biases and a need to feel special.

BTW your first paragraph shows you have an extremely poor grasp of viral ecology and zoonosis.

As Jon Stewart postulated, if there was an outbreak of chocolatey goodness in Hershey Pennsylvania, you can safely conclude it came from the chocolate factory located there.

You're a pathetic clown.

JPW, isn't this your line of work?

What I haven't seen with regards to the China lab theory is why they would develop a virus like COVID. Would there be any scientific benefit in doing so? Is this a common practice?
