Ohio Governor Defends Haitians Working in Springfield

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R): [T]he city hit tough times in the 1980s and 1990s, falling into serious economic decline as manufacturing, rail commerce and good-paying jobs dwindled. Now, however, Springfield is having a resurgence in manufacturing and job creation. Some of that is thanks to the dramatic influx of Haitian migrants who have arrived in the city over the past three years to fill jobs. They are there legally. They are there to work.

More

There have been language barriers and cultural differences, but these Haitians come to work every day, are fitting in with co-workers and have become valuable employees. ...

I am proud of this community, and America should be, too.

Comments

"As a supporter of former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance, I am saddened by how they and others continue to repeat claims that lack evidence and disparage the legal migrants living in Springfield. This rhetoric hurts the city and its people, and it hurts those who have spent their lives there."

"Saddened"? That's it? Oh, Mikey, in a time calling for just some strength and your warped "party loyalty" leaves you emasculated by a pair of sociopathic thugs?

Trying to cover your own arse while retaining bended-knee fealty to Trump is a bad look, Mikey. The look of just another Republican coward.

Some Republicans still have souls, most don't.

Question Did Jesus Christ declare an exemption for the sin of hatred of foreigners a/k/a xenephobia! Millions of zzzzzrepublicans seem to think so! "Hey, let's take children from their parents and put them in cages like animals!" President Donald Trump. Reelect that sadistic sub-human then you own his sins and crimes. You can't vote for him and not share his guilt.

Cheap labor and potential destruction of our national culture is the essence of what most Democrat political elites and some Republicans want from immigrants. What we need are immigrants that will also give us intelligent kids, improved culture, and improve and stabilize our country.

@#4 ... potential destruction of our national culture ...

Please elaborate.

For starters, what is "our national culture?" My first question would be, who is "our" - be specific.

Then explain how legal immigrants in Springfield, Ohio are destroying the Country's national culture.

The biggest problem Springfield, Ohio is having is the Republican Party and their bullshht stories.

It's well written and Dewine does everything but attack Trump directly

"potential destruction of our national culture"

America has been defined as a melting pot.

Why?

Because American culture has been shaped by the history of the United States, its geography, and various internal and external forces including migrations (which are an integral part of our history).

How does one "destroy" what is in a "melting pot"? Immigrants just add more flavor and spice.

Is it possible that Robson is not actually an American and doesn't understand American history?

Is it possible that Robson is not actually an American and doesn't understand American history?

And it's certainly impossible that he voted twice for Obama as he claims. Obama hasn't changed and the Democratic Party at its head hasn't changed. If what he sees from Obama's Vice President is so outrageous, then how did he view Obama? There is nothing Robson believes in that Obama promised to do, NOTHING. He appears to lament that Obama wasn't progressive enough and now Robson espouses xenophobia, racism, sexism and a complete mistelling and misunderstanding of US history preferring to support ultra-nationalism and authoritarianism, not to mention hostile bigotry?

He's not unintelligent, but I can't understand it because it makes no sense.

Robson doesn't exist. It's a chatbot.

He's not unintelligent, but I can't understand it because it makes no sense.

He's an Fright-Wing talking point parrot and a liar.

It doesn't take Scooby-Doo to figure out this mystery.

Actually had some hopes for DeWine, but when it comes down to the nut-cutting he's just another spineless GOPer for whom position trumps the well-being of his constituents, the people of Ohio. Epic fail, Mikey, epic fail.
