Washington Post is in Deep Turmoil as Bezos Remains Silent on Non-endorsement

Jeff Bezos has so far declined to comment on the situation, even as his own paper's journalists reported that it was Bezos who ultimately spiked the planned endorsement.

Respectfully, it's his paper he can do what he wants. If his workers don't like it they're free to seek employment elsewhere.

"Woodward, Bernstein rip Washington Post for withholding endorsement: Disappointing'

Former Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein issued a statement condemning the publication's decision not to endorse a candidate in the 2024 election cycle.

"We respect the traditional independence of the editorial page, but this decision 11 days out from the 2024 presidential election ignores the Washington Post's own overwhelming reportorial evidence on the threat Donald Trump poses to democracy," the two told CNN's Brian Stelter Friday.

"Under Jeff Bezos's ownership, the Washington Post's news operation has used its abundant resources to rigorously investigate the danger and damage a second Trump presidency could cause to the future of American democracy and that makes this decision even more surprising and disappointing, especially this late in the electoral process," the journalists wrote in the statement."

Ex-WaPo Editor: This Is a Straight Bezos-Trump Quid Pro Quo'

Robert Kagan tells the Daily Beast that Donald Trump's meeting with Blue Origin executives the day its founder Jeff Bezos killed his paper's Kamala Harris endorsement is proof of a backroom deal.

The Washington Post's outgoing editor-at-large and longtime columnist has made explosive claims that its owner Jeff Bezos struck a deal with Donald Trump in order to kill the newspaper's endorsement of Kamala Harris.

Robert Kagan, who resigned from his position on Friday after more than two decades at the publication, told the Daily Beast that Trump's meeting with executives of Bezos' Blue Origin space company the same day that the Amazon founder had killed a plan to support Harris was proof of the backroom deal.

The solution to this is very simple but only if Harris is elected: radically increase NASA's budget for building and flying it's own equipment. This will send a strong message to Musk and Bezos that their business interest can be threatened by both sides. If democrats also control congress, congress should pass legislation restricting major government contractors from owning a controlling stake in media companies.

It is hard to know what one thinks if one cannot unite with others of the same perspective, of the same needs. That is how Putin rules in Russia, how Xi rules with his fascist fist in China...
I am, however, grateful for Bezos for showing his true colors, helped me decide to cancel the Post subscription.

Importing Murdoch's people will kill that paper, as we know it. Indeed, probably already has.

I guess I will just consider the Washington Post to be just corporate toilet paper fro now on. Hey, I got rid of Prime so I'll be fine without the Washington Post too. Everything Bezos touches turns into excrement. Wouldn't it be better here if we weren't treated like children who can't say dirty words? In my real life I use dirty words because I'm an adult and I'll talk exactly as I want to. You give certain words power by forbidding their use.

I dumped my WaPO subscription after he hired the Murdoch spew as Editor. My Prime membership is not long for this world.

How dare they not endorse Harris!

Bezos misses the easiest 'lay up' in the history of news.
Film at eleven.

Brave, brave man there...

We need 4 more years of change not 4 more of KAMALA.

Get the press back to being respected instead of being the propaganda arm of DNC. Society wnts truth and neutral objective news.

Did the editorial board of the post quit their jobs when the Post did not endorse Michael Dukakis?

Why should they have?

It was explained in their editorial that year.

You're welcome.
