Transition Team Caught Off Guard by Hegseth Allegation

President-elect Donald Trump's transition team was in the middle of announcing new Cabinet picks this week when they were informed of a sexual assault allegation about one of his previous selections, Pete Hegseth, stunning several members of Trump's team who have since raised questions about the viability of his nomination, according to two people close to the situation.

I am more surprised that Pres-elect Trump's transition team gave any manner of approval to Fox Weekend News commentator Hegseth in the first place.

(Firefox asked if I wanted to add his name into the "OK" spell-check dictionary. I clicked on ~don't bother, I can do that later if needed.~)

More from the cited article...

... The campaign was brought information that aligns with what Monterey, California, police described as an investigation into "an alleged sexual assault" involving Hegseth on October 8, 2017.

Hegseth was a speaker at a conference held by the California Federation of Republican Women at a hotel during the timeframe when the alleged assault took place, according to photos of the event posted on Facebook. Hegseth has not been charged in any criminal case or named as a defendant in any civil lawsuit filed in Monterey County since 2017, and his attorney denied any wrongdoing. ...

So, a plus for being in the future Trump administration?

Trump Transition Team Concerned Defense Secretary Pick Hegseth Not Vetted Properly
www.newsweek.com

... Senior members of President-elect Donald Trump's transition team have raised concerns about the vetting of defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth.

Since Trump made the announcement on Wednesday, sexual assault allegations against the former Fox News host from 2017 have reemerged, reportedly taking the team by surprise, according to the Washington Post. No charges were ever filed and Hegseth's attorney, Timothy Parlatore, told AP the claims were "completely false."

However, the transition team are reportedly concerned that it was not flagged during vetting and fear what else could come to light. "There's a lot of frustration around this," a source told The Post. "He hadn't been properly vetted."

It has also emerged today that Hegseth, an Army National Guard veteran, was flagged as a possible "Insider Threat" by a fellow service member due to a tattoo that they claimed was associated with white supremacist groups, according to AP. Hegseth has the Jerusalem cross on his chest, and the phrase "Deus Vult," meaning God wills it, on his arm, both of which are connected to the Christian Crusades.

Newsweek has contacted Hegseth via Fox News and the Trump campaign for comment via email. Newsweek doesn't have evidence that he is a white supremacist. ...

Pretty sure sexual assault is prerequisite for cabinet positions.

@#5

That seems to be the way things are looking.

Not necessarily a prerequisite, but a major plus on the resume.

Sad.

"stunning several members of Trump's team"

Oh, please.... these are the same top notch vetters who don' need no stinkin' FBI to vet their candidates!

You're misinterpreting the use of the word "stunning".

You're thinking stunning, meaning, "astonish or shock (someone) so that they are temporarily unable to react."

Whereas they mean, stunning as in, "extremely impressive or attractive."

David Bromberg - Mr. Bojangles (1972)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt...

genius.com

...
I knew a man Bojangles
And he danced for you
In worn out shoes
With silver hair, a ragged shirt, and baggy pants
He did the old soft shoe
He jumped so high
You know he jumped so high
And then he lightly touched down

Mister Bojangles
Mister Bojangles
Mister Bojangles
C'mon dance

I met him in a cell down in New Orleans, alright
I was down and out
He looked to me to be
The eyes of age as he spoke right out
He talked of life
Yes, he talked of life
He laughed and slapped his leg a step

He said the name Bojangles
And then he danced a lick
Across the cell
He grabbed his pants a better stance
Oh, he jumped up high, high
He clicked his heels
He let go a laugh
You know he let go a laugh
He shook back his clothes all around

...

[Spoken by David Bromberg, "This is really a true story, ya know. A lot of people had heard the song. And well, at least Jerry Jeff has told me it was a true story. I played guitar with Jerry Jeff Walker for about two years and we did this song every night for two years. And I never got tired of it. Jerry got a little tired of it. At night after the clubs closed we would do horrible things to it. It was a true story, he, this guy, Bojangles was a, he was a street dancer in New Orleans.

Another David Bromberg tune I like..

David Bromberg Band - Summer Wages (1989)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
Never hit seventeen when you play against the dealer
For you know those odds won't ride with you
And never leave your woman alone with friends around to steal her
Years are gambled and lost like summer wages

So we'll keep rolling on till we get to Vancouver
And a woman that I love is living there
Oh it's been six long months and more since I've seen her
Maybe gambled and lost like summer wages

In all the beer parlors all down on Young Street
The dreams of the seasons all spilled down on the floor
All the big stands of timber are ready for falling
And the hustlers sitting watchfully as they wait there by the door

So, I'll work on those towboats in my slippery city shoes
Which I swore I'd never do again
Through the gray fog-bound straits where the cedars stand watching
I'll be far off and gone like summer wages
...

OK, my real question on this thread is ...

Why were they surprised?

I mean, really, why were they surprised?

Ds like Joe Biden doing what they do best. Lying, scheming, undercutting Americans and commiting treason to gain some evil advantage to put us in WWW3.

This is what happens when you don't use the FBI to vet candidates and instead rely on private sources.

Why?

Because they are clueless when it comes to actually doing things that matter like vetting candidates.

Elect a clown, expect a circus.
