Union Workers Furious Trump is Opposing U.S. Steel Sale

"I am very frustrated with the news that came out last night," United Steelworkers Local 2227 Vice President Jason Zugai said during a panel discussion Tuesday in Washington, D.C. "I didn't expect that to come out. So that was like a gut punch." Zugai said he was a Trump supporter who helped organize trips of steel workers to Trump rallies. He even met with Trump one-on-one and said the president-elect had promised to take another look at the Nippon deal based on the support of the workers.

If you vote for Trump with hopes that he'd do anything other than troll liberals, you're gonna find yourself extremely disappointed.

Trump only represents the billionaires of this nation, and they're gonna get a tax cut.

While the rest of us see prices increase and the value of the dollar decrease.

That's the bottom line, exactly right. And Trumpers and everyone else will continue to pay back the debt and deficit that these trillions in tax cuts to billionaires will cause.

Trump pledges to block US Steel sale (January 2024)
www.politico.com

... Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he would block U.S. Steel's planned sale to a Japanese company, the first time the GOP presidential candidate has weighed in on the controversial acquisition announced late last year.

"I would block it instantaneously. Absolutely," Trump said after a meeting with the president of the Teamsters labor union, which represents workers in the transportation industry. "We saved the steel industry. Now, U.S. Steel is being bought by Japan. So terrible." ...

Unions are too often run by underhanded politicized management "elites" too busy scheming instead of managing for workers and for making America stronger. Look at government workers and teacher unions as examples never working for the public benefit.

If you're going to strip the essence of my post you should change the thread from my name to retort

#6 | Posted by truthhurts at 2024-12-04 09:28 PM

For the record I posted this thread for the sole purpose of mocking the magat scum for their choices

Less than a month the union magat scum found out the hard way that their choice bit them on the ass

They chose a well known scam artist, union busting, anti-labor -------- for their vote instead of a president who saved union pensions and actually walked the picket line

I find this HILARIOUS!!!!!

You ------- magat scum voted to destroy this country and he is starting with YOU!

LOLOLOL

I cannot laugh hard enough that you magat scum are facing the consequences of your actions.

Reality does not arrive lubed.

Point and laugh at the magat scum, they'll probably be on the unemployment line cause of their votes.

TOO ------- FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What exactly happens if this deal is blocked?

@#11 ... What exactly happens if this deal is blocked? ...

Chaos?

To be clear, I am not at all in favor of outsourcing our infrastructure to other countries.

But this thing with US Steel seems to be trying to put a band-aid on the symptom, and not trying to resolve the (unstated) problem.

So, what is the problem that needs to be resolved to keep US Steel as an an American company?

So, what is the problem that needs to be resolved to keep US Steel as an an American company?

I've read a few conflicting articles on this. One said that the US Steel shareholders were for the deal but the Steelworkers were opposed to it. This article indicates that the Steelworkers are opposed to blocking it.

US Steel has been on shaky ground for a long time, are they not viable without a takeover of some kind?

Dirty Vegas - Days Go By (2002)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
You
You
You are still a whisper on my lips
A feeling at my fingertips
That's pulling at my skin
You leave me when I'm at my worst
A feeling as if I've been cursed
Bitter cold within

[Chorus]
Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you
Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you
Without you
Without you
...

Quite the odd tune, if I have to say so. One which I have only heard on the area college station.

But it won a Grammy (???).

So, go figure ...

But but but...he wore a hard hat and pumped his fist with us.

So throw them on the pile on people who believed his -------- only to have the sads that they were conned by a convicted con artist.

Maybe they and the blacks for trump, muslims for trump, palestinians for trump and evangelicals can all get together and form a club.

Agreed. I deal with this kind of stuff regularly on a smaller scale. "What is the actual problem we need to solve." That is where I find most people and organizations fail, they never go to the root.

Nippon Steel is not the worst possible purchaser for sure - they are not Chinese... But US Steel should be seen as a strategic US company and needs to remain US owned.
