Can you imagine living in Germany and trying to prevent Hitler and the Third Reich but some ego-deficient candidate insisted on pulling votes away from the only candidate with any chance of defeating Hitler....er....I mean Trumpf?

I think you're ignoring the fact that Jill Stein wanted Trump to win.

The reason being to avoid responsibility for the natural result of their votes, probably like they try to avoid taking responsibility in many other aspects of their lives.

Then they try to hide behind the electoral system to say their single vote was meaningless, but that logic would apply to every election which was decided by more than a single vote. As if election results are decided without the action or inaction of every voter having an incremental impact; and that electoral maps like 1984 occurred in a vacuum or are a figment of our imagination.
