" too restrictive in interpreting rules of engagement and took the requirement that soldiers positively identify a target as an enemy combatant before opening fire"

What could possibly go wrong there?

Someone with a lot more insight about this is my son, a Lt Col Army JAG, and has served in Afghanistan, as well as at the Pentagon, and after calling him about these changes he is all for it.

That's not saying much.

If your son wasn't guzzling the Orange Flavor-Ade, he would have been fired already.

@#5 ... a Lt Col Army JAG, and has served in Afghanistan, as well as at the Pentagon, and after calling him about these changes he is all for it. ...

Did he offer any reasons, or was it political preservation on his part?

I ask that, not out of disrespect of the opine, but because Pres Trump seems to be on a mission to remove from power any who disagree with him.

Maybe this is why Sec Hegseth has such a low opinion of women who serve the Country in the Military, he is just reflecting Pres Trump's opinion of women ...

Rules of war

Do whatever it takes to

Turn men into corpses
Turn women into widows
Turn boys unto cripples
Turn girls into prostitutes
Turn children into orphans
Turn the farms into wastelands
Turn homes into rubble
Turn citizens into refugees

Pat yourself on the back and pin a medal on your chest... Jayzus loves you for a job well done

"Did he offer any reasons, or was it political preservation on his part?"

You can't possibly think MSGT raised his son to provide reasons for the things he believes.

He wouldn't know how to teach that to begin with.

Its the specter of Willy Pete and area denial ordinance (chem/bio). And when the favor is inevitably returned, that thick-brick drunk will no doubt begin blithely suggesting we let some kilotonage off their chains. These people are insane. Prove me wrong.

Or does he not dare.
