Active Duty Transgender Soldiers Face Deadline to Self Identify Today

Thousands of transgender U.S. military members have until Friday, June 6, to identify themselves and begin a voluntary separation from the armed forces under a ban implemented by the Trump administration.

I'm seeing people confuse transgender issues in the military with gay rights.

Let's be clear. They are not the same.

Gay rights concern sexual orientation, especially who someone is attracted to, emotionally or physically.

Transgender issues deal with gender identity, especially how someone defines their own gender, regardless of orientation. Unfortunately, this often clashes with how the straight world views gender and biology.

When the military makes policies affecting transgender individuals, that is not an attack on gays. It's a separate matter, with its own policies, controversies, and social dynamics.

We need to stop lumping everything under the LGBTQ+ umbrella as if it's one single cause. It's not.

Pretending it is invites backlash against all gay people who already fought hard just to be accepted.

Homosexuality is an orientation.

Transexualism is a fetish.

Homosexuals are not asking the government to finance their fetish. Homosexuals do not consider their reproductive organs a birth defect or a mistake of god or nature that needs to be fixed in order for them to be self-realized... actualized... or whatever.

Transgender thinking people do.

An annoying percentage of possibly well-meaning left-leaning people are in agreement with them... and only in nations wealthy enough to be bothered with the silliness of it.

No one owes a person cosmetic care for the rest of their life for something they consider a "birth defect" when their body was perfectly healthy to begin with. Healthy enough to get them enlisted.

They'll ridicule Christians for believing in the miracles of Jesus and embrace the cosmetics industry's ability to transform biology... as if... seriously... as if.

Why do they have to self-identify? Don't troops have to undergo physical examinations before enlisting and routine physicals thereafter?

Seems like Trump is just setting the stage for dishonorable discharges for those who don't self-identify, thereby stripping them of all benefits. Also resulting in a severe hit for future civilian employment prospects.

Also, a rule of thumb is that if the person has lower genitalia protruding out larger than a thumb, they might be a man, baby!

That would be in keeping with your "cut off my nose to spite my face" outlook on life (Jill Stein 2028!).

But many of those folks stand to lose benefits they accrued over the course of decades of work if they don't come forward, and to be blacklisted from all sorts of civilian employment in the future.
