... Bad Bunny says he's approaching his highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance with a mix of excitement, gratitude and perspective.

"To be honest, I don't know how I'm feeling. There's a lot. I'm still in the middle of my tour. I was just at the Grammys last week. All of that," he said in English on Thursday at a press event hosted by Apple Music. He walked out to his 2017 single "Chambea."

"I'm excited, but at the same time, I feel more excited about the people than even me " my family, my friends, the people who have always believed in me," he said. "This moment, the culture " that's what makes these shows special."

Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican superstar born Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio, is one of the most-streamed artists on the planet. He will take the Super Bowl stage just one week after he won album of the year at the 2026 Grammys for "Deb Tirar Ms Fotos." It's the first time an all Spanish-language album has taken home the top prize. ...

Fans race to learn Spanish before Bad Bunny's Super Bowl half-time show
www.theguardian.com

... Bad Bunny is expected to perform the Super Bowl half-time show on Sunday entirely in Spanish -- which has inspired fans to quickly learn the language.

In October, the Puerto Rican singer -- born Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio -- kicked off the 51st season of Saturday Night Live expressing pride over the achievement in Spanish, after which he said in English, "If you didn't understand what I just said, you have four months to learn!"

That declaration further stoked the anger of some conservatives who have vilified Bad Bunny for speaking out against US president Donald Trump's anti-immigrant policies. The singer canceled the US portion of his tour last year out of fear that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents would target his fans.

There has been a frenzy online of people posting about Bad Bunny lyrics, including Puerto Ricans explaining slang used by the singer and non-Spanish speakers documenting their journey to learn Spanish.

Anticipation for his half-time performance has only intensified since last weekend, when his album Deb Tirar Ms Fotos became the first Spanish-language album to win the Grammy for album of the year. He did not shy away from addressing targeted federal immigration operations at the awards. ...

No one is learning Spanish for the Superbowl halftime.

Hell the Olympics started and no one is mentioning it

All the old traditions don't matter any longer.

West is raised on its own petard.

Possibly because the NBC network seems to be claiming the rights to mentions of the Olympics?

From what I watched this evening, a local, non-NBC TV station seemed to say during their sports segment that they could not show any video because NBC would not allow it.

Wow. How much $Lewzer did they buy?

@#7 ... Wow. How much $Lewzer did they buy? ...

So far, NBC seems to have not had the need to bow to Pres Trump.

NBC seems to be saying, ~hey, we own the video rights~ so you are not entitled to showing videos of that news.

...NBC Olympics is the commercial name for the NBC Sports-produced broadcasts of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games as shown in the United States on NBCUniversal and Versant platforms. They include the NBC broadcast network and as well as the cable networks operated by Versant under an agreement with NBC Universal; Spanish language network Telemundo; and streaming on the NBC Sports app, NBCOlympics.com, and Peacock. ...

In March 2025, NBC signed a $3 billion extension for both the 2034 Winter and 2036 Summer games.[7] NBC is one of the major sources of revenue for the International Olympic Committee (IOC).[8] ...

Puerto Ricans served with distinction and in large numbers in Vietnam. My first two "unofficial" military teachers in NYC were two such veterans. One was a US Army Ranger who served back-to-back tours and the other was his older brother who was a US Army medic.

They told me lots of stories and provided me with lots of tips. Many of their tales I found hard to believe until I saw similar things when I deployed overseas many years later.

From Wiki:

"More Puerto Rican soldiers died in the Vietnam War than soldiers from any single US state, highlighting the significant contribution and sacrifice of Puerto Ricans in the conflict. This means that among all states, Puerto Rican soldiers had the highest casualty count in Vietnam."

And a four-star USN Admiral served during Vietnam:

"Admiral Horacio Rivero, Jr., the first Puerto Rican four-star Admiral in the United States Navy, oversaw the day-to-day work of the Navy as the Vice Chief of Naval Operations. He was a strong supporter of a "brown-water navy," or riverine force, on the rivers of South Vietnam."

Kid Rock is slated to headline Turning Point USA's Super Bowl LX All-American Halftime Show on Sunday, and he, TPUSA and the MAGA world have been marketing it as the family friendly, Christian alternative to the NFL's show with Bad Bunny. The latest problem for the singer and the show being kicked around social media is an appearance by Rock on Saturday Night Live in 2001. During that appearance, Rock reportedly opined about the Olsen Twins, who were born in 1986, and were around 14 or 15 years old at that time. "Why is every guy in America waiting on these chicks to turn 18?" the singer reportedly said on the show. "I mean, you know what I'm saying? If there's grass on the field, play ball."

No wonder Kid Rock gets along so well with the necrotic orange chomo.

For some reason, I never learned Spanish while going to a Gloria Estefan or Shakira concert.

More interested in just hearing them sing.

I never watch the SB halftime anyway so it doesn't matter to me.

ten bucks says this will be the lowest rated show ever...

plus I prefer to listen to musicians.

but the game could also be a big bore.....Seahawks in a cakewalk.

I just escaped 1.5 years with Puerto Rican Trumpist neighbors who had about three minutes of Bad Bunny recorded from somewhere that they'd play loudly and incessantly.

I believe it was a cassette tape on a boom box.

Admitting some white guilt: Growing up in NYC in the 60s, Puerto Ricans were not the most welcome of minorities. Some of that echoes in my brain.

But these folks were more like-----------, not like Indigenous PRs.

Oops, can I say that?
