... Why It Matters

The war in Iran widened again on Thursday as Israeli evacuation orders sent residents scrambling in Beirut, European governments rushed additional military assets into the Middle East, and global markets braced for further instability.

A week into the U.S. -- Israeli bombing campaign, the war is spilling rapidly across borders, reshaping regional politics and alarming world leaders. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to work to evacuate citizens in the region.

U.S. officials have said the goal of the operations against Iran has been to diminish the country's nuclear program and Navy, not regime change. When asked by reporters about who he would like to see rule Iran on Tuesday, President Donald Trump said, "Most of the people we had in mind are dead." ...

So, according to Pres Trump ...

The war is no longer about Iran's nuclear arsenal.

Which, fwiw, Pres Trump has said was obliterated. But now, it suddenly seems to be a problem?

Then there was not any mention about regime change.

Then the war did seem to be about regime change.

Skipping ahead, now the war seems to be about changing the borders of Iran?

I have a comment.

And that comment is summarized quite well ...

WTF!?!?!?

I think that Trump's sickness just compels him to break things and kill people.

Keping it simple leads to nderstanding.

Demented bully in charge...killing as he pleases...what can go wrong? I thought the Vietnam War years were bad because of bad leadership and our being, as it turns out, on the wrong side. But since the cowardly Republican Party cannot stop Trump, the next three years may in fact be existential, as in "gee, why not use tactical nukes, gee,,,).

Prediction:

In two months the war is over...he will claim victory and nothing will have changed except gasoline will be $5 a gallon nationwide and the GOP will be cooked.

Looks like Russia is about to get a port on the Persian Gulf. Easier to send ships to the Far East, with that head start.

Der Dotard and his minions are making the same mistake the British made more than 100 years ago, i.e., they assumed that in the Middle East there were natural boundaries between political states. In fact, the area was governed by various tribes, sects and religious denominations (for more watch "Lawrence of Arabia"). Folks in the Arab World have been fighting over water rights, grazing lands and access to seaways for thousands of years. No lines on paper will change that.

Remember this, if nothing else: American boots on the ground will bring a slaughter of US troops. The Arabs HATE Americans nearly as much as they hate the Israelis. With folks like Stephen Miller, Steve Witless and J-Rad Kushner (Jews all) directing Trump's brain, it is clear to some that this fight is being brought on by Israel, with the aim of subjugating Arabs, and that will not play, as long as local militias have bullets in their AK's. This could get really bad, really fast...

Trump Says Map of Iran May Not Look the Same After War
My question is will the map of the United States of America look the same after war?

#12 | Posted by MBlue at 2026-03-09 10:32 AM

A very odd question for a reporter to ask. Was there more context?

The world may not look the same after the war.

Especially if it metastasizes into a world war.

And you know what? It sure looks to me like a world war already. Look who is already involved:

America Israel, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Azerbaijan, and Cyprus, with support or assets from the UK and France

And Russia is already trying to stick its nose in.

Almost there!

I suppose that Putin is not unhappy that his oil is now offered at a premium to the world markets. His puppet in the White House is doing a great job of bankrupting and dividing America, never mind any other place.
