People should get representation, not empty land.

DC has more people than Vermont and Wyoming and is close in population to several other states.

Then, let's make NY and Chicago their own states and they get to keep the incumbent senators. The rest of the geographic state gets 2 new senators each.

Also, the Senate was created so that the state's Senators would represent the interests of their states. The rationale makes sense to this day. Texas and California have very different demographics, culture and interests so it makes sense that their senators should represent the interests of their states.

There are logical reasons for refusing DC statehood, but basing that refusal on the fact DCers live in a "city" is not one of them. For separating other cities into states, let's break Houston, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio into their own separate states while we're at it. But you wouldn't want that, of course. Breaking up blue states for partisan gain is just another right-wing talking point, and not really related to refusing statehood to DC.

Not sure what your point is regarding Senators representing interests of their states. That's the very reason DCers would want statehood.
