Powell: Job Creation Is Near Zero

Job creation in the US has slowed to essentially zero, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday ...

Jerome Powell: The Fed is concerned about the very, very low level of job creation. Over the past 6 months, if you adjust for overcounting, there is effectively zero net job creation in the private sector.

More: Altogether, Powell said, central bankers see "a degree of stability" in the labor market.

"But the thing that I think a good number of people on the committee are concerned about is just the very, very low level of job creation," Powell said in a press conference following the Fed's decision to hold interest rates steady.

"Effectively, there's zero net job creation in the private sector," after accounting for revisions over the past six months, Powell said. "But actually, that looks like that's about what the economy needs, in terms of dealing with very, very low " nonexistent, really " growth in the labor force, which of course we've never had in our history."

Why aren't Trump's tax cuts for the rich creating jobs?

They. NEVER.DID.

Those of us around in the 1970's remember the stagflation which hamstrung the US economy for years. 90-day cooling off periods for price and wage increases, windfall tax bills for oil companies, those stupid "WIN" (Whip inflation now) buttons, and when all else failed, cigar-smoking Paul Volker had to strangle the economy with interest rate increases unseen in this country's modern history. I was surprised to get a job upon my college graduation in 1981, and saw coworkers lose heirs over the following two years, and then things got much better. Let's hope we do not repeat this cycle...

Re 7

Whew. That's was too close!

"She would get us into a World War 3 guaranteed because she is too grossly incompetent to do the job ... "

Instead Americans decided it was time for a good old fashioned FAFO and let the White Nationalist and Xenophobic Armchair Generalissimo Trumpy get us into WWIII.

Thankfully, billionaires who historically create all jobs are still being created.

New gold star families will be so PROUD to see their childs name on a plaque.

Trump could magnanimously affix it to his arch.

"Too much honor, sir!"

OR, billionaires are parasite that destroy entire nations and rob humanity for profit.

Subsidizing them has proven effective at kickbacks, the entire affair needs to change.

Lobbyists should be stopped entirely - that's the nicest I will put it.

Nothing gets fixed in this country without Campaign Finance reform.

@#5

Suggestion ... maybe add a size limit on the image link.

For example ...

[less than]img src=h t t p s ://image.example.com/example.png width="300" height="400"[greater than]

That width and height specification helps.

I try to keep the images I post under 500x500.

YMMV.
