FIFA: US Hotels Slash Rates Because Less Fans Coming

US hotels are slashing room rates during this summer's FIFA World Cup, as executives warn that ticket prices, inflation fears, and anti-American sentiment are prompting football fans to scale back their travel plans.

Eleven US cities will be hosting matches during the World Cup, scheduled from 11 June through 19 July.

Match-day room rates in host cities including Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, Philadelphia, and San Francisco have dropped about a third from their peak earlier this year.

Analysts blamed dissatisfaction with Dummkopf Trumpf's junta and its xenophobic visa and immigration policies, ICE thuggery, as well as the instability and anti-American sentiments triggered by the illegal US-Israeli war against the people of Iran, for cooling international demand: "Obviously, people's desire to come to the United States right now is down."

Last year, FIFA projected that millions of international visitors would give the US a $30.5 billion economic boost during the concomitant 2026 celebration of America250, but the nefarious Trumpf junta squandered this golden economic opportunity.

Canada and Mexico, who are co-hosting FIFA 2026 games, are expected to economically benefit from the tournament. For Canada, this may be a $3.8 billion boost for its economy; Mexico will see a smaller economic gain.

"prompting football fans to scale back their travel plans."

Good. We don't want foreign tourists, or their dollars.
This is what I voted for.

I looked at traveling to Seattle, estimated the costs for a couple of games that I would get by lottery and decided to stay home. No tailgating has been added now. Screw em all.

I've read Spain has announced they will boycott the World Cup should Israel be allowed to compete.

I can't find a reputable source for the information.

But it is very interesting.

Could it have a domino effect? Will France and Italy follow Spain's lead?

Perhaps the United States can win as Trump sends all other teams to the camps.

If I was gonna see a World Cup game, which feels like it could be bucket list worthy, I'd probably choose Mexico this go-round.

So, USA, Russia, Argentina, Israel, North Korea and Saudi Arabia? Is that enough teams for a tournament?

It could be LIV Soccer!

Trump could award himself another FIFA Peace Prize.

award himself another FIFA Peace Prize.

He's already got the actual FIFA World Cup trophy.

Ronaldo finally getting his World Cup could be a temping offer to... checks notes... one of the poorest nations in Europe, which in a coincidence Republicans will need to change their shorts over, is also a Social Democracy.

*** Global Tourism Increases Everywhere Except to the US ***

"There were 80 million more international travelers in 2025 than in 2024. But many of them are skipping the US for other locales. A 20% decline in Canadian travelers, or 4.2m fewer visitors, once a major market for the US, was recorded.

International travelers are skipping the US because of fears border detainment and rampant firearm violence.

The drop in international visitors could spell trouble for the US economy, as travel is one of the country's largest export services. In 2025, visitor spending supported 15 million US jobs and generated a record-setting $3 trillion in economic output."

~snip~

Not any more, thanks to Dummkopf Trumpf and his idiotic voter base.

Anti American sentiment? AntiTrump sentiment more like it...Anti hate sentiment, and above all, people are recognizing that with Trump, fascism is trying to gain a permanent foothold in our highest offices.

My guess is quite a bit of anti-Trump sentiment abroad easily morphs into a generalized anti-American sentiment. After all, Americans voted this creature into office not once but twice.

"Listen, don't mention the war," Brit hotelier Basil Fawlty tells staff with respect to the establishment's German guests. "I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right."*

The Battle Royale that would have been glorious to witness: Hyacinth Bucket versus Basil Fawlty.
