Workers Respond to Trump's 'Black Jobs' Comment

Donald Trump raised eyebrows at Thursday night's debate for suggesting, without evidence, that migrants crossing the U.S. border were "taking Black jobs." President Joe Biden was asked what he would say to Black voters who feel disappointed by the lack of progress his administration has made on issues like earning gaps, maternal mortality and incarceration rates for Black Americans. Biden pointed to the number of Black-owned small businesses started during his term, and his administration's efforts to reduce child-care costs. In response, Trump said that "[Biden's] big kill on the Black people is the millions of people that he's allowed to come in through the border." "They're taking Black jobs now," he added.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2019, right before COVID-19 hit, the fourth quarter of 2023 shows 2.7 million more people working.

Except all those gains are among immigrants.

The number of immigrants working over this period is up by 2.9 million, while 183,000 fewer US-born Americans are working.

Tell me you don't understand the math of the baby boomers retiring without using those specific words.

FTA, we're still in the period where an average of 10,000 boomers retire EVERY DAY, and will for at least another five years.

Since 2019, that would be almost 183 Million retirees.

I google that line and get this:
