Former President Donald Trump presented "no meaningful evidence" that the White House or Justice Department targeted him for prosecution over political animus or his refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled Saturday.

"In a twist, a key allegation liberal critics have leveled at Attorney General Merrick Garland " that prosecutors were slow to turn their focus to Trump after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot " redounded to the Justice Department's benefit in the selective prosecution ruling Chutkan issued Saturday.

Chutkan said a Post article detailing the probe's deliberate pace "reflects conscientious investigation, not political animus."

"Overall, the article suggests that the Justice Department was especially cautious about investigating a political figure like Defendant," wrote the judge, an appointee of President Barack Obama."

"No meaningful evidence?"

That seems to be the MAGA calling card of late.

Good to see Justice agreeing.

USDJ Tanya Chutkan was nominated to the federal bench by President Obama. Her Honor had sentenced Russian malefactress Maria Butina to 18 months incarceration and she has presided over the trials of thirty 6 January 2021 insurrectionists. According to the Washington Post, she has been the toughest sentencing judge in those sedition cases.

Like Judge Juan Mercan (who presided over #45's recent criminal conviction in NYS), USDJ Tanya Chutkan is also an immigrant (he from Colombia; she from Jamaica).

Dealing with two immigrant judges must have given the xenophobic, nativist ex-Dotard-in-Chief apoplexy.

Was thr word "paranoid" mentioned in her decision. If not, it should have been.

I've never heard of it being done but someday some judge is going to remand Trump into custody pending a thorough psychological evaluation for repeatedly abusing the justice system with his wild unsubstantiated imaginings.

And then make an example out of his attorney with a big fat fine and a sanction.

Lets be clear on this.....the prosecution is the result of his refusal to accept the election results because he is a child and that he took and planned criminal actions designed to illegally overturn the will of the voters and when those failed he sent a group of thugs to disrupt the certification and resulted in the death of police officers and some of his thugs.

If he had not been a 70 year old toddler and conceded the election like every other candidate who lost in 200 years this would not have happened.

He is planning the exact same thing now. He's already saying the election is rigged. He is already praising the GA election committee for his belief they will cheat for him.

He said at his hate fest over the weekend that Brian Kemp is scheming with the democrats to rig the election but he doesn't know how.

Same playbook.

Trump issued an Executive Order aimed at vandalism of US buildings by protesters.

Why does he want to pardon Jan 6 vandal, but punish vandals of confederate statues?
