Between 2016 and 2021 there were 5,287 firearm deaths in Colorado with a combined age-adjusted rate of 15.0 deaths per 100,000 population. The number of firearm injury deaths was greater than deaths due to motor vehicle crashes, opioid overdoses, colon cancer, and influenza combined. Sadly, these firearms casualty counts in the Centennial State will only increase. By contrast, Canada with a 40m population suffered a grand total of 297 firearms-related homicides in 2021.
