Nicholas Kristof: When right-wingers pursue policies that mire children in poverty, it takes gall to preen about their family values.

... it takes gall to preen about their family values. ...

Republican family values now also seem to include the Sen Vance saying that it is OK for a husband to be violent against his wife because the wife should just stay in the marriage.

JD Vance Suggests People in Violent' Marriages Shouldn't Get Divorced (July 2022)
www.vice.com

... "This is one of the great tricks that I think the sexual revolution pulled on the American populace, which is the idea that like, well, OK, these marriages were fundamentally, you know, they were maybe even violent, but certainly they were unhappy.

And so getting rid of them and making it easier for people to shift spouses like they change their underwear, that's going to make people happier in the long term,'" Vance said. ...

So, he seems to equate a wife trying to get out of a violent marriage with her just changing her underwear.

I remember Republicans having a cheesy fixation on making everything family friendly in the 90s.

Did that die under Bush as part of the effort to kill as many poor teenagers as they could?

Seems to me that Democrats have always promoted policies that make people poor. They not only want them poor, they make people poor. Yeah you leftists think not but minorities were much better off before they were impoverished by Dems who crushed family values. For example black Americans in the 40s and 50s were much better off than they were after Dems made them crackheads, criminals and poor. Kamala participated in their destruction.

@#5 ... LOL!!!!!!

Well, yeah.

But my main concern here is the apparent attempt to deflect away from #1 ...

So, he [Sen Vance] seems to equate a wife trying to get out of a violent marriage with her just changing her underwear.
