Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Driven by political partisanship, public trust in the U.S. Supreme Court has continued a downward slide since the court's 2022 Dobbs decision overturning the Roe v. Wade ruling that established a constitutional right to abortion, according to a new survey by the Annenberg Public Policy Center (APPC) of the University of Pennsylvania. More than half of Americans (56%) now disapprove of the Supreme Court, saying they trust it either "a little" or "not at all" to act in the best interest of "people like you," according to the nationally representative panel survey conducted in July and August 2024.

I don't know why anyone wouldn't trust SCOTUS, considering:

A. John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett were all appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote.
B. Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh both had credible allegations of sexual harassment (and/or assault) which were overcome by partisan blind-eye-turning.
C. At least 3 SCOTUS Justices lied outright in their interviews before Congress, and two more gave misleading answers.
D. They granted presidential immunity to FDT to protect him from prosecution for his many crimes.
E. Most of their recent rulings ignore precedent and are unfathomable in terms of making any legal sense whatsoever.
F. At least 2 SCOTUS Justices are working with their wives in a hyper partisan manner.
G. At least 2 SCOTUS Justices have accepted bribes and ruled favorably in cases where they should have recused themselves.

So yeah, the Court is illegitimate, and everyone knows it. We have to pretend to accept those hacks because without the rule of law, the whole system breaks down. Unfortunately, the highest court is a corrupt laughing stock.

I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Ginni Thomas needs to be investigated. How on earth did she get away with meddling in her husband's official judicial affairs and what gave her the right to try to collude with Mark Meadows to try and overthrow and undermine the outcome an free and fair election?

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas should immediately recuse himself from any cases relating to the 2020 election and its aftermath. Period.

Until that time I will assume any cases involving Trumpy that are brought before Thomas will have a corrupt intent and outcome.

I wonder how Democrats will feel about expanding the court if Trump is elected.... Hmmm?

Why would Trumpy expand the court? He already has them in his pocket. That would just mean he would have to bribe more of them.

So you would be indifferent if Trump expanded the court?

You might say my trust in the Supreme Corrupt Court has "settled" down to the depths, to the muck and the mud.

The corrupt court deserves has destroyed any trust they had....

MILLIONS in bribes taken

Perjury under oath.

Why do they deserve any trust?

I do understand your point but with th crimes committed by Trump and the Republicans in their attempts to stal the 2020 election (now fact not opinion) and with blatant corruption of the Supreme Court iy becomes doubtful that our nation is under the rule of law any more. I suspect that a day is approaching when something pretty extreme is going be needed to return us to the rule of law; IMHO it's going to be plong rison terms for election tampering and impeachment of many mrmbers of the Supreme Court. I think we better get busy doing it before the Fascists take over entirely.
