President-elect Donald Trump's pledge to levy hefty tariffs on imports is expected to result in retaliation that hits farmers hard, repeating events of his first term, when Washington spent tens of billions of dollars to ease the pain on the agriculture sector.

I've read reports that suggest that more than 90% of the tariff money collected in the first go-round went to make payments to farmers who got caught up in geopolitics. Of course, that the money went to farm subsidies meant that nearly none of it went to the US Treasury as income. It will not really matter, though, when King Dotard II exports all those farm workers. Americans will see their great land of plenty, with crops rotting in the fields because no one will be there to pick them. And its not like folks in Phoenix or Atlanta can drive to Watsonville, CA to pick their own strawberries...

That's okay....farmers never remember...

They didn't remember that it was Reagan that helped
destroy the small independent farmer.

They didn't remember that Reagan changed up the tax laws
to make it easier for Corporate Farmers to take over.

They never remember when the GOP does things that are bad
for them. No white people do, except for them thar
'liberal hippie types'...

I say, 'you deserve what you get if you are constantly voting
against your own self interest'.
