... Killing people with paperwork instead of a gun doesn't make you any less of a murderer ...

That may be a bit much. Or not?

More from the cited OpEd ...

... And last week a plastic surgeon called Dr Elisabeth Potter " a specialist in reconstructive surgery for breast cancer patients who have had mastectomies " went viral on TikTok for claiming she had to step out of an operation (where another surgeon was also present) because a health insurance representative demanded proof it was necessary. According to Potter, her patient was under anesthesia when she got an urgent phone call from UnitedHealthcare while in the operating room.

"So I scrubbed out of my case and I called UnitedHealthcare, and the gentleman said he needed some information about her," said Potter. "Wanted to know her diagnosis and whether her inpatient stay should be justified."

Potter reportedly explained to the insurance representative that her patient had breast cancer -- something he apparently didn't know because someone else in a "different department" had that information. ...

Yeah, I had that "different department" experience with UHC a few years a go.

I had called them to bump up the limit on the dental insurance I purchased from them. I wanted to give them more money.

But after 40 minutes or so of being bounced on the phone to a ~different department that is responsible for that change~ I just cancelled my policy with UHC and went with another dental insurance company.

So I have to ask, just how difficult is it for an insurance company to answer a simple question ... how do I give you more money for the benefits you provide for me?

I mean, really.

This outcome seems to be what the GOP wants.

SARAH PALIN SAYS FEWER PEOPLE WILL BE COVERED BY 'SENSIBLE' DOCTOR-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE OF OBAMACARE (2013)
www.tampabay.com

... The Affordable Care Act alters the "sensible doctor-patient-relationship-centered health care program ... we see today."

Sarah Palin on Sunday, November 24th, 2013 in comments on Fox's "Fox News Sunday"

* * *

The Ruling: FALSE

Any time former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin weighs in on the health care debate, our ears perk up as fact-checkers. The 2008 vice presidential candidate brought us "death panels" (our 2009 Lie of the Year) and helped circulate the inaccurate statement that the Affordable Care Act is government-run health care.

On Fox News Sunday, Palin continued her criticism of the law and expressed skepticism that "30 million more people will receive health care coverage under Obamacare."

Palin then made a bold statement regarding the health care law and the doctor-patient relationship.

"There will be fewer people being covered under a sensible doctor-patient-relationship-centered health care program under Obamacare than what we see today," she said. "I guarantee you that." ...

Yeah, Ms Palin wanted to hand healthcare coverage over to the wealthy, and that is where we are now.

Where profits seems to be more important than successful patient outcomes.

And the GOP is so proud.

I get the feeling society is looking for reasons to justify Luigi's committing murder.

Otherwise they would be looking into other major insurance companies as well.

I tend to agree, but Luigi hasn't been found guilty of anything.

All the insurance industry will learn from the Luigi incident is to keep their execs further away from the public.
