President Donald Trump suggested that Ukraine should have opted not to fight back against Russia's invasion. In a Fox News interview that aired Thursday, Trump told Sean Hannity that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's decision to fight when Russia invaded in 2022 was a mistake. Trump, who met Zelensky in Paris in December, conceded that Russian president Vladimir Putin "shouldn't have done it," but criticized his Ukrainian counterpart and said: "Zelensky... shouldn't have allowed this to happen either. He's no angel." "Zelensky was fighting a much bigger entity, much bigger, much more powerful," Trump told Hannity. "He shouldn't have done that, because we could have made a deal." Trump has long touted a mutually beneficial deal and even boasted that he would end the conflict within hours of taking back the Oval Office.

... President Donald Trump suggested that Ukraine should have opted not to fight back against Russia's invasion. ... Zelensky... shouldn't have allowed this to happen ...

What did Pres Zelemsky "allow to happen?"

Pres Putin did an unprovoked invasion of a sovereign country, and Pres trump says that the country being invaded should just let the invasion happen?

@#3 ... "Zelensky was fighting a much bigger entity, much bigger, much more powerful," Trump told Hannity ...

Does Pres Trump know that during the early days of Pres Putin's unprovoked invasion of a sovereign Ukraine, Pres Putin tried to assasinate Pres Zelensky multiple times (and, fortunately, failed in those attempts)?

Assassination attempts on Volodymyr Zelenskyy

... According to Ukrainian government officials and news sources, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has survived a number of assassination and kidnapping attempts by Russian or pro-Russian agents during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[1][2]

Background

In order to achieve a quick victory during the invasion of Ukraine, Russia planned to have groups enter the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv and destroy Ukraine's leadership.[3] Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak stated that "Russia's key intention [was] to remove the country's top leadership, create maximum panic, and try to establish its own puppet government".[4] ...
