More from the article ...

... President Donald Trump's push to quickly overhaul the nation's immigration system is at the center of a civil war between Republicans in Florida, with Gov. Ron DeSantis facing off against the GOP-dominated state Legislature.

DeSantis earlier this month called lawmakers back to Tallahassee for a special legislative session with the explicit purpose of aligning state law with an expected wave of immigration-focused executive orders from Trump.

But Republican leaders in both the state House and Senate, who had previously panned DeSantis' plans as "premature," abruptly ended the special session Monday morning and quickly called their own.

The move effectively killed all the legislation already filed by DeSantis' allies, and allowed Republican leadership to draw up their own immigration proposals, including language that puts the governor in a tricky political position. ...

Interesting bit of inside baseball there - the State legislature pursuing their own agenda perhaps because Desantis is a lame duck and the rest of the legislature have seats to maintain and credit to claim.

The elected leaders should be focused on the real problems in this state whight up to thw water's edgeich are causing Floridians to lose their homes. 1. The stupidly writtn condo law inspired by the collapse of one building in a state with thousands of condo buildings in no danger of collapse but the engineering firms recommend unnecessary repairs thafor a tiny fraction of their actual worth, tear them down and build something taller on the same piece of land.t cost millions of dollars which only benefits developers who can buy the empty buildings. 2. The property insurance industry is disregarding the actual risk on the east coast of Florida which is very low and basing rates on the Gulf (of Mexico) Coast where the developers have been building right up to the water's edge which is a recipe for disaster but which gives them huge profits by overpricinf coverage in areas with li; but our Governor and Legislature are bought and paid for by the insurance industry.ttle or no risk.
Instead these ass****s pander to Trump and his racist agenda.

DeSantis is no prize but neither is the Florida State GOPers. Cross your fingers that they don't try to do Trump one better.

Whoa.

Let's take a step back here.

Gov DeSantis once ran for President on the basis that he would do to the United States what he had done to Florida.

And now, the GOP in Florida's legislature seems to be telling Gov DeSantis to effectively, go fornicate himself?

Do I have that correctly?

SO... Dick DeSantis Vetoed this measure from his own Republican House.

Can anyone guess why? Bingo! You are right.... because as cruel as it was, it was NOT CRUEL ENOUGH!
