PM Mark Carney began "Trumpf-proofing" the Canadian economy and defense sector the moment he took office last year on 14 March 2025. This week he welcomed an agreement between Airbus and AirAsia to purchase 150 Airbus A220-300 aircraft-- the largest order for a Canadian-designed and produced aircraft in history.
This week PM Carney also conferred with the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas.
The Prime Minister expressed Canada's deep concern over the continued humanitarian crisis in Gaza caused by the IDF and reaffirmed its opposition to Israeli settlement expansion and Settler violence in the West Bank. He underscored Canada's unwavering support for a negotiated two-state solution-- an independent, viable, and sovereign Palestinian state living side by side with the State of Israel in peace and security.
PM Carney also spoke with the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, expressing Canada's friendship and solidarity with the Lebanese people in the face of widespread destruction, displacement, and civilian deaths caused by Israel's illegal attack and occupation of southern Lebanon.
