For 528 days, Valerie the miniature dachshund survived in the Australian wilderness by eating roadkill and eluding the grasp of humans who wanted to rescue her. All the while, her owners worried about whether they would see her again.

PS - I just looked up stats on miniature dachshunds. Never more than 11 pounds.

Wow, 529 in heat and poisonous snakes. Yep, that's a brave little feller alright ...

I have a lot of them, and I can tell you that a- they love heat, and b- they will eat snek.
One of mine learned to hunt crawfish after flooding rain, head underwater to the ears. She taught some of the others too.
