Talk about the most efficient way to destroy film making.
First-we export $15 Billion more than we import on movies
Second-this will destroy independent film making as they simply cannot afford to make movies in America
Third-reciprocal tariffs will decimate our homegrown movie making industry-think losing all of the sales in China
Fourth-No mention of TV
Fifth-Streaming platforms will be hit hard
Sixth-Many, MANY productions are international, some here some overseas
Seventh-Shitler complains about foreign countries subsidizing movies done in their countries yet ignores the same policies already in effect here (look at where many productions are made-tax havens like GA).
Eighth-the whole movie making industry is going through a massive upheaval with streaming and losses in theater revenue, competition for mid to low budget movies is way down-Distribution companies do not want to spend money on non-surefire hits
Thus adding a major tax on the source of MANY films means less interest in one of the money making aspects for film companies, i.e. they will lose money in the long run and we will have fewer movies available to watch
Ninth-How does one even calculate the tariff on a streaming service movie? Their costs and views ARE NOT publicized.
Tenth-Just a really really bad idea
