An index published this week by the Institute for Supply Management, which tracks manufacturing, slipped for the third straight month in May as companies made plans to scale back production.

Yup.

But not only have manufacturing jobs started to suffer recently, as noted in another part of the comment, the uncertainty is preventing US companies from planning to bring manufacturing back to the US.

So, Pres trump's whimsical approach to tariffs seems to be having the opposite effect upon manufacturing than the effect he promised.

I am seeing people lose their jobs already in my community because of Trump. The first to go was a small businessperson. Her foreign customers just found better, cheaper places to spend their money. Tariff and threat of tariffs proved too much.
