Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, July 18, 2025

Last night at a town hall in Jonesborough, Tennessee, a woman shared her story: she was denied prenatal care by her OB-GYN because the doctor objected to the fact that she isn't married. She's been with her partner for 15 years and has a 13-year-old son. The doctor told her that because she was unwed, according to a new law in Tennessee, he didn't feel comfortable treating her because it went against his "Christian values."

Another Jane Doe story...

That's what happens when the victims are under 18.
Their identity gets protected.

On April 24th, Tennessee's 2025 Medical Ethics Defense Act went into effect. It gives physicians, hospital systems and insurers, among others, the legal right to deny healthcare to patients based on religious, moral or ethical beliefs. There are no protections for people in rural areas with limited options. There's no requirement to refer patients elsewhere. And there's no legal recourse. The woman at the town hall explained that her representatives are not responsive to her questions, even as she repeatedly calls Sen. Marsha Blackburn. When she reached staff at Sen. Bill Hagerty's office, they told her, "he's not obligated to listen to his constituents."

You're pathetic. There's no way she's lying.

It sure did make it convenient for you to make stuff up!

What possible reason do you have to doubt her story?

Do you think it makes Republicans look bad or somethnng?

Republicans should be celebrating the big win here. Doctors can refuse to treat patients on religious and moral grounds. Republicans love that. That's why Republicans made it into law.

Give Republicans a little credit for their accomplishments here.

You're supposed to be happy when things go your way. But I guess you long since forgot how.

What possible reason do you have to doubt her story?

Pretty simple really ...

Last night at a town hall in Jonesborough, Tennessee, a woman shared her story

You have to be a total idiot to believe someone at a townhall meeting, they aren't even under oath. I have even seen studies that were presented at "townhalls", which were piles of ----. Which you would actually eat Snoofy given your predilection for swallowing anything with "its science" in the title.

#13 You mean an exclusive by TN Repo News with a link that can't be located isn't enough to doubt the story?

The law cited is intended for stories like this to exist.

Or perhaps you would like to deny that too.

I know, you would think they'd be crowing with pride. Things are working out as designed. It's telling that they don't want to own this.

telling how? What does it tell us?

#17 | Posted by eberly at 2025-07-21 11:13 AM | Reply

One thing it tells us the people whose initial and ongoing reaction to this story is "She's Lying!" are primed to view themselves first and foremost as victims of liberals.

(T)elling how?

That they're actually embarrassed at the cruelty and suffering of the policies they endorse.
