If the VA goes through with this, I see it as a mistake.

There's a reasonable justification for declining gender altering procedures provided by the VA.

But I see no legitimate reason to deny abortions unless the policy is being driven by religious pressure.

Biden has said VA rules override state laws, and I have no problem with that either.

Frankly, if the primary objective is combat readiness, a pregnant service member will require specialized care and limited duty.

If she chooses an abortion, that decision supports combat readiness and it doesn't conflict with it.

By contrast, service members who undergo gender altering surgery will face longer recovery times and extended limited duty, which can hinder combat readiness, supporting the point I made in my previous post.

In some cases, they may never be fully combat ready again.

The VA does not have anything to do with combat readiness, except for a few full time techs in the Guard or Reserve. They take care of Veterans that have served their time.

Why does it make sense to you that the military gets sub-standard health care?

No.. the "VA" does not want this.

Trumpy and his minions pushing project 2025 want this. And more.

Trumpy is ordering this latest offense to compassion, common sense and reason in order to please his maga maroon and Christian Nationalist base.

It makes sense to him because he thinks it's "Gods Will".

People who made the mistake of having unprotected sex should be made to suffer. And if they enjoyed it?

Forever.

Depending on the facility the VA may provide abortions. If not, they will contract with a civilian clinic or hospital; just as they do for many specialties. We don't have OB/surgery at our local hospital, so they get care in a civilian facility paid for by the VA. Similar process that is used here for Derm, Ophthalmology, Oncology.

Matt,

The VA provides ----- pills.

That does seem to be a contradiction.

In MAGA world not at all a contradiction. Men write the rules so they can continue to rule. Next step, repeal suffrage.

@#10 ... Men write the rules so they can continue to rule. ...

I agree with one change ...

The MAGA-owned GOP writes the rules so they can continue to rule.

Lamp - The VA has routinely been providing ED drugs for many years, getting menopausal hormone replacement has been difficult to impossible at many facilities.
