AI is here to help: streamlining some productivity and allowing businesses and their leaders to gather and summarize information at a faster clip.

That's why Hanneke Faber, CEO of global tech manufacturing company Logitech, said she'd be open to the idea of having an AI-powered board member.

"We already use [AI agents] in almost every meeting," Faber said at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington, D.C., on Monday.

While she said AI agents today (like Microsoft Copilot and internal bots) mostly take care of summarization and idea generation, that's likely to change owing to the pace at which the technology is developing. ...

Dub Narcotic Sound System - Ship To Shore (Boot Party Mix) (1996)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
It's hard enough to try not to remember
It's hard enough to write return to sender
It's hard enough to know that its not over when its over

It's hard enough to think you know the reason
You make a list of things not to believe in
It's hard enough to know your getting over that its over

It's ship to shore forever with a message
Indelible with everything that's precious
Part of you that's always looking back to see its over

Not enough that memory you're keeping
We made up and now it's hard to sleep in
It's well enough to keep on going over that its over

Kraftwerk - Pocket Calculator (1981)

@#5 ... I'm the operator
With my pocket calculator ...

Yeah, but what happens now, 40+ years after that song was released?

Are you the operator of your pocket calculator (now known as a smart-phone) or is the pocket calculator operating you?

And what will it look like 40 years from now?

Will Big Tech be in complete control of you?

Missing out alright - the AI remembers everything exactly as said for eternity. Some Boards have banned AI note taking - for good reason. It is ALL subject to discovery in lawsuits. Now there is not only a "board member" in the form of an AI but also a photographic memory sitting on the board. Other companies are banning them from all meetings. Again for good reason.

Keep in mind, something said off the cuff or without context is now recorded. Some people deserve to be but at the same time perfectly innocent things can and will be used against you in your next lawsuit without all the relevant context.

I just spent a couple days in deep AI conversations with security experts and some software engineers. AI can be incredibly useful but people have to understand the issues.

Good luck with that. I remember having trouble teaching upper management the need for strong IT security. And now you have to teach them the dangers of AI?

The Singularity cannot be stopped.

@#9 ... I remember having trouble teaching upper management the need for strong IT security. ...

I ran into that same wall back in the day.

Why? Because increased IT security had an immediate cost, with no tangible return on investment.
