... Researchers analyzed internal data from millions of consumers and found about a quarter of households spend more than 95% of their income on necessities such as groceries, housing, gas, child care and utilities.

The percentage of Americans who are spending over 95% of their income on necessities has increased the last two years.

Living paycheck to paycheck was more likely to impact low-income households.

Nearly 30% of low-income households were living paycheck to paycheck, while less than 20% of higher income households spent over 95% of their incomes on necessities.

The report highlights what economists call a "K-shaped economy," in which affluent Americans are faring far better than those at the bottom.

Another sign of this trend is the Federal Reserve has reported that credit card debt and delinquencies have increased in the last year. ...

We're well on our way to creating the civil unrest necessary to declare martial law.

MAGA!

Yeah, I have heard reports about the K-shpaed economy.

It makes sense to me as an allegory.

Buffalo Springfield, a group that spawned many great artists.

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
[Verse 1]
There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
A-telling me I got to beware

[Chorus]
I think it's time we stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

[Verse 2]
There's battle lines being drawn
And nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Are gettin' so much resistance from behind

[Chorus]
It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

[Verse 3]
What a field day for the heat (Ooh-ooh-ooh)
A thousand people in the street (Ooh-ooh-ooh)
Singing songs and a-carryin' signs (Ooh-ooh-ooh)
Mostly say, "Hooray for our side" (Ooh-ooh-ooh)

[Chorus]
It's time we stopped
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

[Verse 4]
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life, it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
Step out of line, the man come and take you away

[Chorus]
We better stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going
We better stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going

We better stop
Now, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going
We better stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

OK, back in the day, over a half-century ago, that song was a rallying song for the crowd I was in.

But I did not really realize the significance of the song in view of the light of the current time until I went to genius.com and posted the lyrics.

There's this ...

...
[Verse 4]
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life, it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
Step out of line, the man come and take you away
...

That's where the Country is now.

Going shopping, and you and your 1-year-old child are pepper sprayed for no reason?

Yeah, maybe that Buffalo Springfield song was more prescient than I had given it credit for.
