U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials say the shooting happened just before 7 p.m. after federal law enforcement tried to conduct a traffic stop in Minneapolis. The subject of the traffic stop was an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, DHS said.
A DHS spokesperson said the subject of the traffic stop tried to run away from law enforcement before agents caught up with him, and a struggle ensued.
During the struggle, two people came out of a nearby apartment and hit the law enforcement agent with a snow shovel and broom handle, according to DHS officials.
The initial man involved in the traffic stop then got away from federal law enforcement and allegedly began hitting the agent, a DHS spokesperson said. (huh? He got away and then what - came back and hit the ICE agent? How does this make sense?)

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said during the press conference, "There's a lot that we don't know at this time, but what I can tell you for certain is that this is not sustainable. This is an impossible situation that our city is presently being put in, and at the same time, we are trying to find a way forward to keep people safe, to protect our neighbors, to maintain order."
"We cannot be at a place right now in America where we have two governmental entities that are literally fighting one another,"
"For anyone that is taking the bait tonight ... stop. That is not helpful. Go home ... I have seen thousands of people throughout our city peacefully protesting. For those that have peacefully protested, I applaud you. For those that are taking the bait, you are not helping and you are not helping the undocumented immigrants in our city, you are not helping the people that call this place home."

With all of the non-lethal tactical weapons available to ICE (e.g. Capstun tear gas, Tasers, impact weapons, pepper ball launchers), this goon deployed a lethal weapon in public.
We are all Palestinians now.

Every shooting.
Every video showing ICE shooting people in the face with pepper balls or rubber bullets.
Every video of them breaking a car window and arresting a US citizen.
Fuels the coming reconciliation.
