Stranger Things

Let's talk for a minute about Kristi Noem, and the reason we need to do so is because of something she said yesterday, Thursday, January 15th.

Noem was speaking to reporters outside the White House, and she was asked if she expects Americans to be carrying around proof of citizenship in case they are stopped for questioning.

Listen carefully to what she said."

DHS Says REAL ID, Which DHS Certifies, Is Too Unreliable To Confirm U.S. Citizenship
reason.com

... Only the government could spend 20 years creating a national ID that no one wanted and that apparently doesn't even work as a national ID.

But that's what the federal government has accomplished with the REAL ID, which the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) now considers unreliable, even though getting one requires providing proof of citizenship or lawful status in the country. ...

To obtain the Real ID Gold Star on my license, I had to provide my certified birth certificate, social security card, passport, plus at least two utility bills addressed to me to show my current residence. (and, fwiw, I also provided the mortgage document for my house).

So, if an ICE agent confronts me, what, exactly do they want to see for identification, if Real ID is not valid?

"Meaning that even if you're in the area of someone suspected of being in this country
illegally, you may have to validate your identity.

In other words, you may have to show your papers for no other reason than you were in the vicinity of someone they were targeting.

Statements such as, "Show us your papers" or "Your papers, please," are expressions associated with police states and the demand for identification from civilians during random stops or at checkpoints.

Police states want to know the identity of civilians on demand. And this brings up the third problem with what she said, which is us having to carry around something to validate our
identities because that is where we're headed.

We're headed to a point where not just in America, but all around the world, people will be required to carry their identity with them."

vid is about 3 and a half mins

This reminded me of Casa Blanca the movie... the buying and selling of Identity Papers, 'Letters of Transit' in their case, to get away from the Nazi Regime.

"Papers please!"

Or accent. Saw that on a vid I posted today... protester says why are you targeting me, and ICE thug says, your accent... protester then points out thug also has an accent, so they throw him up against a wall.

@#8 ... Your MAGA hat. ...

Not sure if you were sarcastic or serious.

But, if you were serious, I agree.
