"Do they [Russia] help Iranians?" the Ukrainian president said in an interview with NBC. "Of course. How many per cent? One hundred per cent."On Saturday, Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Russia - already accused of sharing military information and hardware with Iran during the war - had taken satellite images of the Saudi base in the days before the strike.

The White House on Friday sought to play down reports that Russia is sharing intelligence with Iran that could help Tehran target U.S. military assets in the region, saying the information has had no impact on American operations.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the alleged intelligence sharing "is not making any difference with respect to the military operations in Iran," adding that U.S. forces are "completely decimating them,"

And yet:

The loss of the AWACS is "a serious blow to (US) surveillance capabilities," said CNN military analyst Cedric Leighton, a former US Air Force colonel who has flown on the aircraft.

"It can potentially impact (US) ability to control combat aircraft and vector them to their targets or protect them from engagements of hostile aircraft and missile systems," he said.

A report this month from the Center for a New American Security calls the AWACS the "quarterback" of the battlefield, "nimbly providing critical situational awareness and real-time coordination that turns individual sorties into a dominant force."

The report calls AWACS "an indispensable asset for US military operations today and for the foreseeable future."

In the current conflict, an E-3 might see an incoming Iranian Shahed drone launched 200 miles away about 85 minutes sooner than ground-based radar, Layton said.

Because they are mobile, the AWACS can move quickly to new crisis areas and present are a harder target for adversaries than fixed ground-based radars.

An dedicated MAGA remaining out there who wants to explain why Donald Trump has Russia as an ally while Putin is killing Americans and helping him to lose a war?

In a strange way I'm glad for these sorts of bizarre circumstances. It underscores with a sharpie how venal and insane Trump is, in a way much more stark than any blog post could ever attempt.

Anyway, if you can find a way to argue why it makes sense to have Trump wage a war he's also trying to lose, have on.

But it occurs to me that this sort of insanity is what MAGA wanted all along. That movement has always supported Russia and, by extension, Iran.

Maybe Trump's ongoing betrayal of American troops is just another part of the burn-it-all-down attitude MAGA has always projected?

The KC-135 destroyed is a serious loss. E-3 was on the way out, E-2 & E-7 are in.

Analyst neglected to mention the E-3 is being phased because of space based sensor platforms. Biden admin wasn't stupid in this choice.
