6 dead, including suspect, in series of killings in Michigan

A series of shootings in Michigan left five people plus a suspect dead Friday, police said, following an extensive search around two homes and a wooded area. Officers responded just before noon to reports of a shooting at a home in Missaukee County, about 170 miles northwest of Detroit, and found three people dead and another in critical condition, Michigan State Police said in a statement. The wounded person was taken to a hospital. Suspect Chad Hickman, 39, fled before they arrived at the home, according to police. As officers conducted a large-scale search for him, they found a fourth person dead at another home.

PTSD is spreading through the US with all of these killings and attacks.

In an average year, 1,423 people die by guns in Michigan which has a B- report card from the Giffords Center.

Michigan has a population of 10.13m people, comparable to Sweden (10,711,870); but only 42 people were killed by firearms in Sweden in all of 2025.

Yes, PTSD. Many people who don't die are affected. Consider in your "typical US school shooting," not every wounding is a fatality. Families are left with children not only traumatized but maybe paralyzed for life or with "lesser" lifelong physical injuries.

America is to lenient on crime.

The court dismissed felony charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, interfering with electronic communications and two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Two additional misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree child abuse were also dismissed.

During the Second World War, UK PM Winston Chuchill signed everything with "action this day" -- macro or micro issues -- whether it was for changing the uniform epaulets of the Royal Scots Dragoons, extracting more oil from Persia, or increasing the food rations for soldiers by one biscuit.

"Action this day."

But in the US, we are held hostage to nihilistic inertia, unlike Australia and Canada which banned civilian ownership of assault rifles after suffering mass shootinga.

Well-paid research about reducing gun violence in the US without poltical action = many well-rewarded and cardiovascularly healthy mice.
