Putin, who wants Americans to feel the same sting he felt as the Soviet Union fell and was, instead of being seen as a great power, was seen as a joke. So he has to be grinning at the thought of Melania being seen as an American symbol. One of the many reasons I still think Russia had a lot to do with Trump's rise.

There is incompetence that costs those of us at the bottom our food, our housing, our medical, but there is incompetence that costs the rich of the major corporate boardrooms millions...and that is an enemy Trump does not want to have.
Might be significant to point out that the Republicans under Nixon "opened China to the West" so those same boardrooms could make stuff for cheap in countries that outlawed unions, and then sell that stuff to us for a lot of money, and now that same Republican Party is pretending they really care about the American worker.

I knew someone who was wildly misogynistic all his life, he simply saw women as second class citizens, and not deserving of being in power over men. He needed someone to hate, and half the human population were his to hate and denigrate. Of course, one cannot be a fundamentalist Catholic or Mormon or Muslim and not be wildly misogynistic, There is a reason the second that the Democrats nominate a woman to be President the Republican Party jumps for joy...America is, thanks to its Fundamentalism, home to the worst kinds of misogyny.

The rules no longer apply to Trump and his gang, they can get as rich as they want taking bribes from CBS, from foreign countries, from any and all, and there is nothing any of us can do about it, because he has utterly corrupted the ultimate authority, the federal Supreme Court.

Uh, I am the same age as Trump, within a few days, and while I know there are old folks like us with still powerful minds...aging takes a toll, if nothing else it diminishes our energy reserves..we cannot engage for hours at a time, as a President must, and stay focused as we could when we were much younger.

Glad to be alive, but as an old guy, I am also kinda glad I won't be around in twenty or thirty years, when it comes crashing down, amidst human caused global warming that will kill many poor people. We could have done a lot, but as it is, we are now lost to hate and fear and to living in a world where the rich get it all, and live maybe 15 years longer than we fellow humans at the bottom of the economic pyramid.

An independent media is as valuable to a democracy as is having two independent political parties, devoted to the Constitution. Too bad America has only one such political party...the Democratic Party.

As a vet who used the VA as his main medical resource, I mourn this abuse of veterans for the profit of those looting the treasury. They are also going after Medicaid and Medicaid and food stamps, so all at the bottom of the economic pyramid will be placed in danger of losing vital resources.

I rose to the high rank of corporal in the Marines, a lot of years ago, and one of the things I did learn was the need for chain of command cohesion...and as Trump loses it more and more, his command structure will strike out on their own, more and more... and Hegseth is just the person this old guy wants making command decisions.
We lost the Vietnam War because we were, plainly said, on the wrong side. It was Catholics minority in the south running things as a colonial power, against the people who were overwhelmingly against the colonialists.

Last time Trump was in the White House, he did the same thing, tried to enlist an army of the emotionally disabled, people who struggle with logic and need to have a strong leader to help them get through their day. Lately I have been watching YouTube videos of Hitler at his height and wonder just how many in this country would bend a knee to deadly fascism. Certainly Trump has his core of murderous creeps about him now.

We elected a Jim Jones wildly dysfunctional patriarch to run our American family, and so we have found ourselves on the same dark path as he...he will alienate our friends and neighbors so we have no way to oppose him.

We are a wildly dysfunctional family (country) led by a controlling patriarch who retains control by intimidation and alienating neighbors and others so that he can rule as a god. This climate change gaslighting is the most dangerous thing a person can to to our country, as human caused global warming is our greatest danger. Trump is obviously in the tank for those making trillions from the sale of oil and natural gas and so he is the enemy of things like wind power and solar cells.
We just may not have the chance to change things as, as Mattis and Kelly pointed out, Trump is fascist to his core.

Reality is a hard master...we now cannot ignore the fact that America is now bankrupt, it can never pay, will never pay, its debts, and the minute that the rest of the world awakes to the fact we deliberately bankrupted ourselves to destroy the FDR safety net, investors will stay away and chaos will rule the streets.

So just admit that all religions, especially old ones from centuries past, are just creations from the human brains of fellow humans who have no more idea what is going on than the rest of us. There is no god, though I define god as spirit, that which is generated by a common people on a common journey.
That truth means that democratic socialism is in truth...what religion at its core is about, when one filters out the BS that comes from power hungry priests and politicians.

When all is said and done, Trump and Putin are of the same cloth, they see themselves as the boss, and the rest either bend a knee, or get bent.
