It reminds me of those crass Feed the Africans commercials that supposedly Christian charities used to run on TV. Of course, in many cases most of the money went to line their own pockets or was used for other projects.

Of all the things that were stacked against her (late campaign start, anti-incumbency mood, corrupt consultants and advisors, Trump's apparent assassination attempt, Trump's ability to play the media), Kamala's sex and ethnicity are really far down the list, well below the poor decisions she and Walz made.

It really is ridiculous how some Democrats *still* haven't figured out that, by attacking people who did not and would not vote for Trump, that *they* are the ones who hurt their cause and ended up helping Trump get elected twice.

That said, I don't believe it's accurate or fair to call transgendered Trump supporters self-loathing. Like cisgendered women who aren't overly concerned about abortion rights at the national level, they simply have different priorities and don't like being told to vote for because of their gender. It's just as silly as the claim that cis white males are self-loathing if they vote for Democrats, although all that self-deprecating "White Guy Tacos" nonsense didn't do much to help to dissuade people of that.

It seems like this emotional argument about children being in the dark before school gets repeated mindlessly like any other "think of the children!" admonishment without any critical thought.

Without DST, it can get dark as early 3:30pm in some places when it's cloudy. Why isn't there just much concern about children coming home from school in the dark?

If there really are any legitimate concerns about children going to school in the dark, a more sensible solution would be to have the schools start an hour later during those times, rather than making everyone lose an hour of daylight in the evening when most people have their "free" time.

This seems like an example of linguistic creep. The term tornado no longer includes just actual tornadoes, but signatures on data instruments that indicate "possible" tornadoes. Nobody knows how common these signatures were in that area before the technology was developed to detect them.
