Olga Miranda, president of the SEIU Local 87 union, which represents thousands of janitors in the city, said immigration officials showed up at two buildings downtown on Friday. Federal immigration officials did not confirm the action when asked Monday. But an Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, official denied that the agency had any involvement in any action. Miranda declined to say which buildings were targeted, but said hundreds of her members who clean downtown offices stayed away from work Friday evening. Miranda said federal agents showed up in plain clothes and presented badges that said "Department of Homeland Security" to building security when asked, after initially being turned away. One set of agents showed up in the late afternoon carrying an arrest warrant for a specific person, but none of her members were arrested, Miranda said. read more

The federal process isn't as simple as crossing out the old name and writing in a new one. It's a complicated switch across the bureaucracy, involving a top-down effort to update official documents, communications, maps, and charts. read more

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the Trump officials discovered that 50 million taxpayer dollars were allocated to fund condoms to be distributed in Gaza. "That is a preposterous waste of taxpayer money," Leavit said. A report by the Jerusalem Post claimed that Hamas operatives have been repurposing condoms to create balloons filled with inflammable gases to strike targets in southern Israel since 2017. These condoms attached with improvised explosive devices often land in schools, farm lands and roads. In 2019, they started attaching these condom bombs to rocket-propelled grenades. The helium filled in these condoms were initially imported for medical purposes with Israel consent. read more

As the entire basis for the worth of crypto is finding the Greater Fool, I would think that Trump Coin has almost infinite worth.

"Also Trumpy has already reinstated "schedule F" which allows him to have civil servants stripped of protections so that career employees can now be fired at will."
And why is that bad? Aren't most jobs like that? I know mine is.I can also quit at will.

Most private jobs are like that. Most federal government jobs are not (the part about being fired at will). For a reason, to prevent Political Patronage or the Spoils System, where jobs are given to political lackeys, as opposed to going to the most qualified applicant. en.wikipedia.org

We passed laws to stop patronage because of the negative impact it has on our government, where employees who are good at their job are fired only to be replaced by a different idiot every four years when someone from their party wins office.

The purpose of [Schedule F] is to increase the president's control over the federal career civil service by removing their civil service protections and making them easy to dismiss, which proponents stated would increase flexibility and accountability to elected officials. It was widely criticized as providing means to retaliate against federal officials for political reasons, impede the effective functioning of government, and providing risk to democracy. It has been estimated that tens or hundreds of thousands of career employees could be reclassified, increasing the number of political appointments by a factor of ten.

I'm not a fan of Putin at all, I just don't feel it is necessarily our role to continuously use our tax dollars to fund a stalemate?

In three years we've given Ukraine about $180 billion total, much of which were weapons in storage that were going to be decommissioned, savings us the high cost of destroying them. We spend about $800 billion a year on our military.

So, for less than 1/4 of what we spend every single year on our defense, we've longterm destroyed what used to be the second biggest military threat we faced. At no risk to American lives. Seems like an excellent return on investment to me, leaving us better prepared to face China in ten years without worry of Russian involvement.

Or, as Lindsey Graham put it a few years ago:

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham:
We are destroying the Russian army without losing a single American soldier. If we defeat Putin in Ukraine, the world will be a better place. All that is needed is American military support. In 18 months, the Ukrainian people regained half of their territories and not a single American died. The Russian economy is falling apart. The Russian Army has been destroyed. This is a good investment by the American people.

As for immigrants, I welcome anyone and everyone who comes to our country the legal way to do so.

Your chosen leader disagrees with that philsophy.
