It's in the trillions each year.

That's how it works. People give money and vote based on how they think and where they think it should go.

I know I'm paying devil's advocate......and I agree with you. I don't mean to equate this with other political promises....

What has frustrated so many here on the retort is that republicans vote against their own interest.

Which is a fair criticism and I've never challenged that assertion.

But we give passes to politicians who make unrealistic promises because they.......tried.

I've pointed out past promises were outright lies because the promiser knew it wasn't realistic.

Which is what we have here, IMO.

It was a more explicit and specific quid pro quo. Yes.

Consider the fact that many Americans do not view this as Trump giving them anything. But rather letting them keep more of their own money.

If I'm paying $60,000 a year in federal income taxes and you let me keep $5000 of it ... ... . I never viewed that $5000 as being someone else's in the first place. It was mine.

At this point, I will remind people once again that I don't think this idea is serious at all
