Exactly!!! In fact, he and his colleagues should sponsor a resolution stating their support for Ukraine. I am sure they would get sufficient support from democrats to get it passed. People need to be on the record.

Trump has been able to assume and exercise dictatorial powers because the Republican-controlled Congress has allowed him to do so.

That is why democrats in congress have to say to their republican colleagues that they can no longer be "friends" if they are only going to air their grievances in private because to much is at stake. Long standing relationships may fracture but to much is at stake. The public needs to know where each of its representatives stand so as to assess whether or not to give them their vote because to much is at stake.

If the intent was to bring jobs back to America, there would be specific incentives to do just that: bring jobs back to America. As it is, IRS regulations that incentivize companies to outsource remain on the books. Also, companies can still move those factories to some other country that have not been targeted with tariffs.

What's so interesting and tragic about all of this is that prior to Trump, no Republican was actually stupid enough to follow through on all of their government is bad rhetoric. Trump is actually doing what republicans have always said they wanted and now they and the rest of us have to live with the consequences. Republicans are the only ones that can fix this but it will come at a price that they are unwilling to accept: acknowledgement that they have lied for decades about the benefits of federal government. The real reason for their lies is the success of the civil rights movement. They realized that the federal government was big enough and strong enough to IMPOSE it's will on the states and the states didn't like it.

There is an orchestrated effort by Trump to make America sicker, poorer, less secure, less influential and more divided. Who benefits?

If these American oligarchs think that they are protecting their business interests they should read up on the fate of some of the Russian oligarchs.
