Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, March 19, 2025

"This would be a really weird recession, right? I mean, it's a recession by design," he said. "The economy came into the year rip-roaring, exceptionally strong, and we're pushing it in because of policy." "The recession risks are uncomfortably high and they're rising," Zandi said Wednesday on CNN. "I think they're less than 50/50, but it really does depend on the president, what he does here."

Market Manipulation

In economics and finance, market manipulation is a type of market abuse where there is a deliberate attempt to interfere with the free and fair operation of the market; the most blatant of cases involve creating false or misleading appearances with respect to the price of, or market for, a product, security or commodity. Market manipulation is prohibited in most countries.

Not that I would suggest that the man causing this recession would ever engage in such conduct ...

"UCLA Anderson, which has been issuing forecasts since 1952, said the administration's tariff and immigration policies and plans to reduce the federal workforce could combine to cause the economy to contract.

Its analysis was titled, "Trump Policies, If Fully Enacted, Promise a Recession."

A recession is defined by an economic contraction in GDP. Government spending is included in the GDP calculation - if we were to merely balance the budget, it would result in a 7% contraction to GDP. While in Democrat land, this is will be terrible and the MSM will shout it from the rooftops. In reality, cutting this government waste and abuse will be the greatest thing for the US economy over a 5 year span. In Argentina, it took about 6-12 months - now, it is described as the Argentina economic miracle and all those Dem/lib predictions of collapse just look stupid.

Again, the only Republican here with a chance of seeing this is what Trump is doing, is Eberly.

It sure would be nice if Eberly could explain it to the -------- on his team.

But he ain't no schoolmarm, and these malcontents don't want to learn, even from a Republican.

So here we are.

I'd advise all Americans to take a tip from the Mormons, and keep about a year's worth of dry goods food in your home.

Hey there, Scotty: All this talk about waste, fraud and abuse leads one to wonder (1) what are the names and locations of all the fraudsters who have been identified by the Muskrats, and have criminal charges been filed against any of these miscreants? (2) How come on one has pulled aside our putative king, and asked him, in the name of government efficiency, to pay for his own golf game travel and security? Recall that he's 'really, really rich', and (3) is having world-class weather prediction, air traffic control, or the ability to identify and counteract a pandemic your idea of 'waste, fraud and abuse'? Asking for a country...

Moody's Economist: Trump Causing "recession by Design"

Of course he is! But what is his motive? Are you going to believe a liar when he says it is to bring manufacturing jobs back to America? If the intent was to bring jobs back to America, there would be specific incentives to do just that: bring jobs back to America. As it is, IRS regulations that incentivize companies to outsource remain on the books. Also, companies can still move those factories to some other country that have not been targeted with tariffs.

What is the real reason behind the self imposed recession?

Is that BellRinger's nickname? Cause I'm getting BellRinger vibes.

Unfortunate if true, as BellRinger seemed like one of the saner Trumpers here, albeit suffering from many of the same misconceptions.
