Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

In Russia, where Trump's moves are a widespread cause for optimism, Putin's call was seen as a way to repay the American leader by giving him some "pleasure," without any concrete concessions that would lead to peace in the region. Appearing on The Evening With Vladimir Solovyov on Tuesday evening, state TV experts didn't hide their joy over what was happening. State Duma Deputy Andrey Lugovoy"one of the prime suspects in the poisoning of former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko"commented, "Regardless of what happens in the near future, I can state with a full responsibility that we, Russia, have completely won the rematch of the unfortunate outcome of the Cold War, as a result of which the Soviet Union had fallen apart."

- the Soviet Union had fallen apart."

An observant person might notice the SU falling apart is now presented in the past tense.

Thanks, Trumpers!

The next century will see a new golden era for Russia.

"we, Russia, have completely won the rematch"

Mitt Romney must be so mad right now.

Russia was, to varying degrees of success, being kept at bay, for seventy years. But apparently America doesn't want that any more.

Kinda weird how Republicans did a complete 180 on that, in just ten years.

Don't the Republicans here think it's weird? I don't get it. Did you talk amongst yourselves about this making this seismic shift in the global word order, because it seems rather sudden and presented without much commentary to me.

"The next century will see a new golden era for Russia."

They had an old one?
We must not have read the same novels.

Vague memories of Russian history is things were decent under Peter the Great, things were okay under Ivan III aka the Great,

And Ivan IV would have taken the title of Ivan The Great from his predecessor
For he was a beloved Tsar who greatly improved Russia
ad he not gone crazy in the second half of his tenure
and went on a crusade to sweep out corruption across the land,
literally -- get this -- riding on a horse with a black broom
symbolically sweeping out the corruption for the peasants to see
and ruthlessly firing or executing, I couldn't say
countless government officials
crippling the effectiveness of his own country to function,
ushering in an era of economic misery
Earning the name Ivan The Terrible

That's about what I remember.

Trillions of dollars of Russian propaganda over the past few decades are paying off.

They had an old one?

I'm sure.

All nations do at some point or another.

As a product of Public education, and admittedly not too interested in Russian history, I can't point to when it was.

But thanks to the efforts of Trump and Republicans, the Soviet Union will be glorious once again!

Traitor Trump, the Lyin' King. Also terrible.

Welcome to the Trump Golden Age, where the United States is in theory a first rate power but in reality is a thing other people laugh at.

I find an analogy with Mussolini's Italy, circa 1942.
